I have election anxiety and I don't even live in your country.
You are living through tumultuous times indeed.

Very much so. Pretty sure it will be the main topic of my T session today...and perhaps Wednesday.

I'm blocking out all of the news, working on my NaNo novel, and have planned (socially-distanced) things to do with friends tomorrow night

Also, the NYT has a delightful Election Distractor that I've been playing with.

I am extremely stressed about the elections. We've talked about it to some degree every session for the last couple weeks. It's moved some from the stress of actual election to the stress of what will happen if there isn't a landslide by one side or the other. I am handling it by talking about it a lot. My wife and I talk about it a fair amount as well. She too is stressed. Overall, I don't think I'm handling it that great as I cycle between hope and despair and many feelings between around the topic. I don't really see a good way forward for us regardless of who wins. I'm not sure how we reconcile things between what appears to be 2 significantly different belief systems. I guess a part of me still believes or hopes that the majority of us are not that different if we were to take the parties and figure heads out of the picture and are able to talk about issues/topics specifically.

I've been very anxious, haven't been able to sleep without help the last couple nights. Can't wait until all this craziness is over with.

My T has been very distant and unfriendly and non helpful this past week and I believe it is election fatigue getting to her.

Yes, I have a lot of anxiety about this election. Tears fill my eyes as I think about it. Gave my T a heads up last week that I might not be able to talk about the election for a few weeks.

My anxiety mostly revolves around my dad and H. They're where I get my "news" from and they're opposite ends of the pole! And then fb friends... it's so tense. I feel it through them.

What happens in the US affects all of us. We are all in political turmoil. I am in the UK and living in a (no-deal) post-Brexit Europe whilst trying to negotiate Covid and the political mess in the US is dystopia in our lifetime.

Very possibly. I haven't been in therapy in years, but my last T and I Facebook regularly. I posted something over the weekend that he responded to in a rant. LOL! (Yes, we are politically aligned.)

I have severe election anxiety. I haven’t discussed it with my therapist, though. I’m just going to vote and hope for the best.

I’m with Amyjay. I’m not even in the US and it makes me so anxious because unfortunately (or not, depending how you look at it) whatever gets decided in your country will have a huge impact on the world.

Massive anxiety! Amjay is correct that is affecting people who don’t even live in the USA. This election will have a tremendous impact on the world…IMO. The tactics playing out are designed to divide us in the USA and it is working, again, IMO.
My recent ex- therapist was politically provoking me in March throughout this Spring also. I realized what he was up to, so I was very careful. I thought this was a huge indicator of his true colors coming through. If I uttered a sentence or thought that he objected to, he ripped into me, and I was stunned. I made sure I veered away from politics in session. However, he was bent and insistent many times to stay on that subject. This became very disturbing to me because it was extremely unprofessional and I was paying for it! That is not why I was in therapy. Long story short, unknowingly, he revealed parts of himself to me that where very personal. One night he called me and started yelling at me about the opinions and beliefs he told me I had! I was shocked and tried to diffuse things, but realized this is really a bad sign. He could not control himself and kept instigating ‘trouble’. I saw a part of him he could no longer hide and this was the tipping point that ended a very long relationship that I discovered was completely fake. I do wish everyone peace and calm in the coming months, especially tomorrow.

Not in the US and definitely having election anxiety. The outcome affects all, I think.

My appointment with T is this evening. I am sure there elum be a little discussion about it. Honestly though, I really didnt like either candidate. I once again voted the lesser of the evils. Quite frankly, I don't really care who wins because I think regardless if who wins this country will continue to be divided by hate.

I am in the US and I have been gnawing my fingernails all day. Anxious to the nth. Did my best to focus on work today and not be distracted but now work is done and I'm fighting myself from turning on the TV. A large part of me does NOT want to know.

This is me too.

I voted.
But now I don't want to know the results. And I don't even know when we will know the results. Some people are saying it is going to take like a month for all the votes to be counted. I don't know that I can take a month. I don't want to watch news tonight.
