Today's dehydrating experiment was pickles. The famous dave's sweet spicy pickles are a dehydrated delight - like a pickle gummy bear. The straight dills got crisp so I am going to powder them and put on popcorn or brine chicken with it.

Have you used the air fryer part?

I just got an instant pot, sort of reluctantly, and the first time I made beans I became an IP convert. Also the time I forgot to take the pork out of the freezer. Now I am debating whether the fryer or cheesecake accessories are worth it.

I am now doing spinach that I will make into a powder and add to stuff. I wish I could justify a freeze dryer.
My person loved gardens but was the world's worst at actual gardening. I like the processing and cooking but not the growing part

Oh yeah for the air fryer lid! I've been making french fries using it (from potatoes, not frozen ones), that h LOVES. Still not health food, but better than deep fried in oil I suppose. I have also been air frying fish which is really good too. And that is healthy for him.

I want the cheesecake accessories but so far have not let myself buy them. I totally LOVE cheesecake and would make it way too often, I know me!

Eggs don't dehydrate well. They are better freeze dried.

I was wondering if they would turn out like these Brad Leone salt-cured eggs.

I'm trying to make orange stir fry sauce in the slow cooker since someone gifted my landlady and me a bunch of oranges. She made orange jam!

Recipe! (please?)

How do you like to make your orange stir fry sauce? It sounds like something handy to have on hand.

I loosely used this one but omitted the garlic and ginger since I don't have them. Honey instead of sugar. I made it in a slow cooker but it's too watery, maybe because I measured cornstarch wrong. Strong orange taste.

I had popcorn and a glass of wine for dinner. That might not have been the best idea.

My term starts Monday. Covid sucks and I miss my people. One of my boys is super struggling with some depressive stuff, and another one has been having random heart palpitations which is probably acid reflux and not serious but nerve-wracking after his brother's experience. This week I've called to get estimates for the fence repair, replacing the carpet, house cleaning, carpet cleaning, painting, and new glasses, all of which I have to find $$ for. Aaaaannnnnd....there are parts of the current political upheaval that are really reactivating my own trauma stuff but I am pretending that's not really happening because it's stupid so I am denying that it's really happening. Which totally helps me to process my emotions in a healthy way. Totally.

I think I need more popcorn.

Thank you! Interesting what she says about the dried orange peels. And since I am getting out the dehydrator to try drying pickles I might as well save and dry the peels from the mini oranges I'm putting in the broccoli salad tomorrow.

Chicken soup for the soul had 144 rejections. Now the series has sold more than 500 million books.

(I had a copy too).

While looking up famous authors who have been rejected, I found this (obviously joke) list. (Warning: potentially offensive.)

Ray Bradbury got rejected something like 800 times before the first acceptance.

I have two stories accepted out of 35 or so submissions, so I’m doing okay.
