Hello, 1st I want to say I hope this is the right section.
So lately I've had a little more hope that getting help can still possibly make a difference, but I just don't know what that kind of help is/would be, so I'm looking to get some ideas and suggestions on possible alternatives to inpatient hospitalization and just seeing a therapist a couple times a week. Neither of these things really make much, if any difference or improvement; hospitalization helps nothing and arguably only makes things worse if anything, and I need something a bit more than just having 1 or 2 hour long sessions a week with a therapist, which is why I'm hoping to find out some possible alternatives, as these can't be the only 2 options available... I've been thinking something along the lines of at least having more time than just a couple hours a week to talk to some type of professional, as I just feel like having someone (preferably a professional) to extract and discuss all the things that have been building up in my head the past couple years is at least one thing that would really help make a difference. __________________ |

Hi, it does sound like you have a lot to work through. I'm not sure what type of treatments there are like this, but if you have money I guess you could pay a professional to see you as many times as you like? Some only do once or twice a week, for the benefit of the client. But there's no harm in asking.
Also there is a person on this forum (I can't remember their name sorry!) Who sees their therapist for days at a time, eats meals with them, does loads of things with them. Maybe they have some helpful info for you about what this approach is called? I hope you can find something that helps you soon |

I supplement my 2 per week therapy sessions with a NAMI group once/week, being here regularly on the forum, and participating in chat here on Wednesdays. IOP could be a good idea, if it's available to you (I'd do it if I could). And, of course, like Lostislost mentioned, if your finances allow some T's will see you several times per week.
The only other option I can think of is something with holistic medicine. Again, money is a determining factor, but many holistic health practitioners will work on sliding scale, if that helps. I'm thinking acupuncture, massage, etc. __________________ |
