I put in for 3 vacation days starting in 2 weeks. Assuming it's approved, I plan to spend the entire 5 days including my weekend laying on the couch reading, watching netflix, and crocheting.

Hugs, Kit...You're reaching out for help, which is good. Your job shouldn't be able to fire you if you're taking time off for health reasons--mental or physical. Though I am not a lawyer.

Sorry for killing the thread again today. This was the most i have laughed in a long time, so thank you all for indulging me, and thank you esp sd for your carefully crafted sentences. I know you did that on purpose to tickle me. You know i love the feast of St Blaise.

I love you guys

st blaise -the patron saint of wool combers and throat diseases? An odd combination.

I confess, I have not understood any of the twain discussion

The whole Feast of St Blaise blessing ritual (two candles tied together into a V and held so to be on either side of the neck) was a an annual highlight of my childhood. It was just so strange and therefore fascinating.

Every so often my mother would get worked up about paying attention at mass. I mostly spent mass trying not to sleep or counting the beams or the gory wounds on the stations of the cross until the tedium ended. One such occasion was the st. blaise thingy. After mass, she accused me of not paying attention and asked me to tell her what the priest was doing with the throat implements. Of course, I had no idea - she wasn't wrong about my level of attention. There was my mother in the parking lot, jabbing at my throat and yelling threats at me about all sorts of divine induced throat difficulties in my future. And then nothing was ever said about it again. I never knew if my mother actually believed any of the religious stuff or not. It really never came up in daily life aside from doing a dinner blessing. They made us go through the major events that seem to end at 12 unless you go on to get married or when you are ready to die and that hasn't come up yet. I think my other parent does believe but again, it isn't something discussed in daily life. I have a very old and good friend who is, in contrast with me, very very religious -I mean their family was always talking about god in conversations where I would not have seen a natural connection- I went to high school with her. One time she took me and another friend to a tent revival (I think we were around 14 yrs old) -which was, to me, sort of theatre of the absurd. The other friend was of the branch she herself called "frozen chosen" and we were both surprised at the difference in experience from us to our other best friend with the revival tent - the revival tent actually scared the crap out me -just not the way the organizers intended. It seemed like chaos and emotion combined which I consider a bad plan. I guess the good part is that even now when we are still on the complete opposite ends of almost every policy and social belief we are friends - we just roll eyes at the other if comes up -but otherwise we get along and revert back to our 50 year old inside jokes.

My mother never said a word about the wool combers - I wonder if they felt left out.

I had forgotten about the connection to blaise. I just recalled a throat thing going on that got her worked up. Finally, in middle teen years, I ended up questioning the whole institution enough that the parental units gave up and just let me stay home to sleep. They stopped asking me about religion - the parents pretend I am xtian and I pretend not to notice. It really cut down on conflict.

I am in a sentimental mood.

I think I came up with a new concept in therapy today--a gratitude and irritation journal. Where you write both things you were grateful for and things that irritated you that day.

Also, Dr. T is getting his second COVID shot tomorrow. So, from what I've heard about side effects being much worse for the second shot and tending to happen the next day, I just assume he'll have to cancel Friday. Which, I know it worked out that I already saw him three times this week (extra birthday session Sunday), I'm feeling sad about. Especially because we have to submit the decision about when and how much my daughter is returning to school on Friday. That decision took up much of session today, and I was hoping to talk to him about how I felt after we made it. I guess that will likely have to wait until Monday. I'm figuring it's best to just assume he'll have to cancel than, then be pleasantly surprised if he doesn't. Though at least session is at 11 Friday, so it's not like I'd have to wait all day to find out if he's going to cancel.

Thanks LT.

I told the owner that I was putting in my personnel file a copy of my diagnosis from my psychiatrist so that way it is on file that I have a severe medical condition. (If they try to fire me later this might work in my favor.) I am also good at communicating with the owner if I am not feeling well and think I might have to be hospitalized so she can make other plans if needed for how to get the bills paid or whatever. She has seemed sympathetic so far and has always thanked me for sharing. I think I am being paranoid since the CFO got fired. Our situations may not be the same. I'm going to read up on the leave of absences in the handbook (whenever they publish the 2021 handbook!) and make sure that whatever I have to do I am in compliance. I'm feeling a bit better today and not as paranoid so I think this is good. Thanks for your kind response.

I had to post so I can have a shortcut to the couch, I'm too lazy to walk around to the front door and through the house to get here.

Hope everyone is well and safe.

I ordered flowers for my fired coworker. She received them and sent me a text picture of them....but I am bummed they don't look like the picture on the website where I ordered them from. She likes them. She thinks they are gorgeous and that is what matters since it is about her. But for $100 I want it to look like the picture dang it!

You could try complaining to the company that sent them, see if you can get at least a partial refund or credit? And glad she appreciated them. So it's really up to you on complaining, but I get wanting to do that.

If it were me, and given how labor-intensive therapy isn’t, I damn well would expect him to be there.

I am hoping my state does not run out of Pfizer vaccine before my second shot next Thursday.

Oh, did I mention one of my classes is being livestreamed to the public by my school as Evidence We Can Too Teach at the Same Quality Remotely? That started today—only found out like 90 minutes before.
