My therapist is a behavioural and ego state therapist and apparently, we will go into ego state therapy next week. Does anyone here have any experience with that and not mind sharing?

There are some old threads on this on this forum as I found. Sounds interesting.
I know there was a specific point where I ripped at myself and tore a bit away, but not enough to constitute a personality in its own right (I think). At least I don't loose time, though upon rare occasions I was more watching than acting.
Not too long ago, I turned down a job (or two) because there was on the one occasion a very loud inner voice telling me "No" in various ways and on the other just a very high feeling of digust towards the job.
It's really the reason I gave myself 2 names on this forum.

Actually, my T didn't say "we will do ego state therapy", she said she would be looking for a role that protects. Her profile says she is into ego state therapy and hypnosis aside of behavioural therapy, so I think my guess is kind of obvious.

I haven’t experienced it, but I’d love to hear your experience of it, if you want to tell us after, especially the rapid pain release part .

I will Though we might just have the one session for now and get back to behavioural therapy for my anxiety and panic attacks after. I said I preferred to look into my past next week because I have exams and am not sure I want her to trigger a panic attack that week.

"rapid pain release" This I haven't heard of yet.

Many years ago (25) I did some years of ego state therapy. It's very similar to psychodynamic therapy, just more specifically works with each ego state personality as if the therapy is for a family, or a group. I thought it was interesting. I don't recall that it was any more helpful than psychodynamic therapy, but then I don't really have DID. The goal, though, is the same whether for dissociation or DID...integration.

I've worked on ego state stuff with my therapist and I found it pretty helpful. It is kinda similar to internal family structure

So, update I guess. I had my first ego-therapy style session today.
It required a lot of will power and concentration for me to let go. and follow T's guidance. Sounds like a contradiction, but it really did.

She told me to close my eyes and walk down a stairway into the past and to sit next to my child self and tell her everything she needs to know... this took most of the session, coming back up almost the rest and discussing it took us I think 10min over the time (which is not unusual for us). My eyes were closed for most of the session, and I cried (just tears, not sobbing).

For that part of myself, it was nice, for me in general though rather strange and I actively had to keep away thoughts in that direction Overall, I think this is a good way for me to get a closer connection to and better handle on my emotions.
