But if you don't require one at all, I'm sure a lot of people would just say they are sick and not come in at all. It still happens if you want a note, of course, but if a business can't deal with the employee being gone for two days, maybe they should close down. But I can understand not being able to pay for an employee for a whole month if they aren't even really sick, just wanting to go to the beach or something.
Oh, absolutely, if someone is out for a whole week or something, require a doctor's note. But if they're only out for a day or two, I don't think it should be required. Unless it's someone who always gets sick the Friday before a 3-day weekend...!

Unless it accumulates a lot, like 20 times 2 days in a year or something, you're allowed to take that time off, it's always paid and they are not allowed to fire you while you're ill either.

Honestly glad you're okay CNS. That sounds so frightful.

I had an appointment with my care coordinator today. She just did a questionnaire about anxiety and depression and asked me what was going on. It was a short call maybe 10 minutes. She said I scored severe on depression and moderate on anxiety. And she asked when I see pdoc next and when the last time I had been hospitalized was. She's calling me back in a week and a half.

I believe that about 90% of the time, you can't get in to see an md within a week. I never go to one until something has been going on for at least two weeks and usually more. I don't believe in notes from mds. Don't give them that power.

Our state and city have lifted the mask mandate for vaccinated people. Tonight I had to go to the grocery and there were giant street parties going on all along a couple of major streets.

Wait, they didn’t authorize giant street parties!

All the places I visited today required masks, so I wore mine. The state I’m in hasn’t relaxed its requirement yet. (Knowing the CDC, they’ll say something else next week.)

People were still wearing them in the grocery store and at the restaurant where I had lunch. But at lunch - I think the city govt had just announced it. Other counties had already rescinded mask requirements earlier this month.

When i was out wednesday afternoon to get my shot, there were tumbleweeds on the street and so many empty storefronts. I of course felt right at home.

Did you see Marshall Dillon?

I miss the deserted streets and sidewalks of the early pandemic.

Our outdoor dining has been packed for a couple of months depending on the rain and the temp. A month ago when it became summer here for a week - people were waiting in line to eat on restaurant patios. And whole foods was hopping tonight as well.

Whew what a great evening! Saw L for an hour and then went straight to the gym, and swam laps again. L knew something was up right when I walked in, she said "your energy's different (in a good way) and your eyes are sparkling!" I already feel like I belong there.

I've decided that I must have been a mermaid in a previous life.

They require masks in the gym when you are just walking around, but not when you're swimming or working out. And you can only use every other machine, which they have people going around sterilizing constantly. They sterilize the poolside shower often too.

I think all the sterilizing stuff is more theater than useful. Particularly since it is not spread by touching surfaces.

I miss the deserted streets. But I will be happy when people leave my park and go back to bars. I don't miss the idiocy of standing in line to get into a grocery store or all the self-important self-appointed mask police (I wear masks but the hysteria some people got themselves into when they spotted a mask offender was frightening)

I feel very fortunate that I never (as of yet anyway) witnessed any major mask confrontations. I read about some that happened here in various places, but I never saw anything crazy.

I saw a couple - I usually just walked around it or left - my sympathies were usually with the mask offender - some were innocent mistakes and the mask police just annoyed me to no end.
