The closest therapist I ever had that I met with from 2007-2009 died at the end of March. I just found out the other day. I was in contact again with her from 2011-2020. We had lunch a lot and then she left a very strange and creepy voice message on my phone in January 2020 and she just did not seem right and it kind of scared me. This was right when Covid was starting and I had my own personal issues and I thought I just couldn’t handle another thing. I knew she had a lot of family that could care for her so I knew she would be ok. So I stopped responding to her. It’s sad and I feel bad since we were so close while meeting and then we kept in contact afterwards for so long. She was strange but aren’t all therapists a bit kooky.

I'm sorry, Md. You must've felt quite shocked to receive such news.

Sorry to hear she has passed away, it sounds lovely that you used to meet for lunch together. I agree that many therapists are a bit kooky. My last long term T was very woo, and I loved that. It sounds like you now regret not responding to her messages last year? Be kind to yourself.

Yeah I do feel bad about not responding but I knew it was the right thing for me with what I was dealing with. Yesterday I found out a teacher I had in high school at the same time as the therapist, died the other day. We’d get into it a lot when I knew her so we weren’t close and she was almost 80 when she died. I guess people I knew 15 years ago when they were in their 60’s at the time are just gonna start going now.

I'm sorry for your loss. It was also okay to stop responding to her at that time.

I’m so sorry, Mountaindewed, it’s very shocking news. You couldn’t have known that voicemail was the last time you’d hear from her, but either way, you did the right thing for you at the time.

It's very difficult to lose people who have touched our lives in such a deep way. I'm sorry for your loss
