Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

230 is something about the communications decency act, blah blah blah.

You're just trying to bury the latest Info fashion report.

Quote:
Info fashion report: well, she had a) slept late and b) just been exercising, sooo...messy frizzy bed-hair, no makeup, sports bra. Black if you must know, but I think it had blue piping. Couple of gold necklaces. No earrings.

Not a good session; the one time I actually ask her for validation, it turns out she sucks at it. She's much better at dropping bromides on me.

Also I now have "I Second That Emotion" stuck in my head, because it came up. There are worse things.
Wait, does mentioning a sports bra violate the communications decency act?

Of course, I may now have I second that emotion stuck in my head.
If you have hulu and are interested in late 60's - I highly recommend Summer of Soul - interesting footage of 1969 harlem concert - a very young Gladys Knight, 5th Dimension, Stevie Wonder etc.

I somehow got AC/DC's "Big Balls" stuck in my head for days on end recently. I'd take "I Second that Emotion".

Thanks for the recommendation, SD. I'm always looking for something new to watch. My sister got me into The Good Fight. Somehow I had missed The Good Wife, so I'm going through that series now. Decent, sort of mindless viewing - basically legal office soap opera. LOL.

I was with my ex for 26 years. Granted, he didn't die, but when he was suddenly gone, there was a huge void and nothing to fill it with. It's not as bad now, but I can still feel that void. I'm glad you've got family moving in. I'm sure that will help.

Probably because of all the recent news in the freebritney movement, i have her song "Everytime" stuck in my head. Been singing it all morning.

Thanks. Honestly, I mostly do remarkably well. But it hits me at the most unexpected moments. I've allowed myself to just let it be what it is: grief is normal. I can sit with it. I am very fortunate to have my kids near me (and one still living at home while he finishes his degree - he graduates in December - woohoo!), and I have been bolstered by SO many friends and even people I honestly didn't know (my husband's former coworkers for instance). It's the too much time on my hands thing that is a bit of an issue right now, but it will be short lived and in about a month I'll probably already be wishing for time off. LOL.

I wouldnt know a britney song if it came up and bit me on my patootie.

I do love The Good Wife, though. I was addicted. I still catch a rerun from time to time. I am a big fan of "the bad husband" from when he was on Law and Order, he was so young and pretty then!

This is a Britney Spears song, but reimagined, in what I consider a superior form.

The only Britney song I know is Oops I did it again. And I've never seen the Good Wife.

Feeling better guys. Plus I bought a new bracelet online. It was supposed to be $22 plus shipping, handling, and taxes but I got it for $5.39! I think I scored a good deal. I don't know why I got it so cheaply. It's a Disney bracelet too. Princess Jasmine.

Big bosses visit is over. The dinner at my house went well. They seemed to enjoy it and it was nice to get to know them a bit better. (They are from NY, I am in CA.) I can relax now that the visit is over. I feel lucky to have nice bosses.
