Therapy wasn’t good today because I thought I was super anxious and just not motivated or trying. When I got out of her office I realized I was very tired and not anxious like I had thought. I came home and my brother is taking a nap. Which is unusual for him. I just took my temp and It’s 99.2. I don’t know if I need to contact my therapist and explain things. Or if I should just wait to see how this plays out? Like even if it’s not Covid should I still inform her I might possibly have gotten something. She is unvaccinated as I’ve said in another post.

I would probably tell my T, just to be on the safe side.

I'd tell her ...She can then decide what to do with that information. Maybe it will help to be on the lookout herself for symptoms in herself and/or can make the choice whether to stop seeing other clients. .

I'd tell her, though that's a pretty low temp for a fever. If you keep having symptoms for the next day or two, maybe consider getting tested? Though I know there's a lot of other stuff going around right now. My T is recovering from some respiratory illness that wasn't Covid (tested negative), for example.

If it wasn't during Covid, I'd probably delay telling her unless my fever got to above 100.4. But since we live in a pandemic I'd probably tell her so she can decide if she needs to go get tested and if she should continue to see clients.

Better to be on the safe side and tell her, then she can make an informed choice about what to do re. herself and other clients if necessary. If you did have a virus and passed it on, she will still take time to develop symptoms, and potentially spread it further in that time. Might not be anything serious, but I get the feeling you don’t really want to take that chance.

Much depends on what is "normal" for you. I'm taking that this is higher than normal. Still within normal range, but you know you. Certainly could just drop a quick email note to your therapist. As a courtesy, you could get tested.

I had to tell her about something else that she wanted me to email her about. So in that same email I mentioned that I wasn’t feeling great after I left the office. I was zapped of energy and that I had a slight temp and I just felt like she should be aware of these things.
But my main focus in the email was still the info she had asked for. I felt that was the best way to handle things. __________________ I'm Blue |

That seems like a good way to handle it.

She replied and said “thanks for the heads up. I hope you feel better soon!” That doesn’t sound like she’s all that worried about getting something herself but I don’t think she’s too worried about Covid if she’s not vaccinated and is still doing in person sessions.
But at least she’s aware of it and I don’t have to do anything else about it at this moment. __________________ I'm Blue |

99.2 is not a fever. It’s a common misconception that anything above 98.6 is a fever but that’s just not so. Ideal body temperature is a range, not a fixed number.
So I’d say you’d be okay either way unless you have other symptoms. |

I think I’m ok. I’m just very tired mainly and I have low energy. We have been in contact for some of the day and she never mentioned how I was feeling. So I don’t think she’s concerned for herself.

Glad you aren't feeling too bad. Hope you get to feeling like yourself soon. Would you have liked her to mention how you were feeling? How would that have changed the dynamic?

I don’t know. She said good morning when she emailed me which was nice. It was kind of strange that she didn’t mention how I was feeling. But I didn’t take it personally. I think she just knows I don’t take very good care of my health in general and we discuss it all the time. I don’t feel much for this therapist except annoyance and frustration. But I do believe in telling someone when I am not feeling good.

I called the office again yesterday after she suggested it. The waiting list hasn’t moved in 1.5 months and I’m still #5. But my current one says she’s taking new clients this month. So I don’t know who’s right. The new one only does telehealth currently which I was worried about but kind of expected. So I don’t know what I even want anymore.

Sorry MD. I hope you can get into the new one soon and that she will be a better fit than the one you have now. Hang in there! HUGS Kit
