We had an appointment on the 27th of September. The appointment was very important to me because I’m having surgery on that Friday. But yesterday she emailed me and gave me some bizarre reason and said we needed to reschedule all our appointments we have set up. So now I’m not seeing her until October 6th. 6 days after our appointment. I told her I really needed to see her before my surgery and that I wasn’t sure I’d be up for an appointment on the 6th. She didn’t respond to any of that. All she said was said that I am a priority for a cancellation. She didn’t wish me good luck or say that she hopes my surgery goes well. She didn’t say anything like you’d expect a caring therapist to say.

I feel like I basically got abandoned by her at a very important time.

Is there anything I can do about this? I feel like it’s just really wrong of her.

I basically just sent an angry email to her and I said “so I’m not going to get any support from you until after my surgery and I’m on my own until then? Jeeze talk about client abandonment” then I mentioned to her how I had told my mom I didn’t want to move because I was worried about the mental health support I’d be getting

She replied in less then 10 minutes and said she will most likely have a cancellation or else she’ll come in an hour early to do a session so I’ll feel supported. She says she’s sorry I feel abandoned but it’s mandatory for her to attend these meetings.

I don’t know if what I said was wrong or if I was just being assertive but she’s being a real shady ***** right now.

Ugh, I'm sorry. You're right that she should have at the very least wished you luck with your surgery and been more apologetic. I'm glad she'll at least come in early for a session if needed, but it shouldn't have taken an angry email for her to offer that.

I hope you'll be able to start seeing the new therapist next month, as this one doesn't seem particularly helpful or supportive...
