I was wondering if - among all the other things, trauma, problems and main reason why we are in treatment - there happen to be moments when you share your dreams (meaning goals and expectations) that don’t have anything to do with therapy as well as random thoughts.
Like, I go to therapy for trauma and even if we do mostly EMDR, sometimes while catching up after a week I happen to tell how I got engaged or have finished a personal project that I’d like to publish and so on, just positive things that are not linked to triggers or the stuff you’re in therapy for (those were just examples). And is T interested or do they bring you back to the focus of therapy? __________________ Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end. |

I didn't go into therapy with a specific focus, so whatever needed to come up is what came up.

L say there are no topics off limit in therapy.
We talk about anything and everything including positives, goals, achievements, etc. Just last week we spent the session talking about my progress and growth. It helps to keep track of those sorts of things. And at the start of every session we do updates which includes anything going on in my life. __________________ "Odium became your opium..." ~Epica |

I'll talk about dreams and goals and also positive things that happen in my life. I feel it gives my therapist a better understanding of who I am, which helps him to better help me.
And also, dreams could be something to work toward in therapy. Like I need to process these things, improve in these areas, etc. in order to accomplish those goals. So it could maybe help provide motivation when one is feeling like therapy is pointless, for example. |

I have talked about one or two goals. I feel like the counselling is helping me get closer to achieving things that I want to do. I was very stuck in place before.
