Helen is okay. No evidence of Bacteria in her ears. Yeah! If we have to take her back for the same problem it will be $53 but since she isn't even itching her ears I think it will be fine.

Still waiting to see if Helen's pet insurance will reimburse me for the medication for the bacteria in her ears or at least put it towards her deductible. They aren't moving none too fast. I don't really care at this point but I hope they at least put it towards her deductible. Not that I anticipate having any other claims this year but it would be nice if it applied there because I pay so much for the insurance, but I learned my lesson with Esther getting diabetes. How I could have saved so much money by having her on insurance.

First Christmas without Esther in 16 years. Sad.

Ugh. Some idiot posted threats of violence on social media, which of course got shared and reshared. Parents are freaking out and of course freaking their kids out.
The police have already discovered it was a hoax, but that doesn't stop people from losing their minds and continuing to stir the pot. So much for getting much work done. Parents are worse than the students. |

I've spent the afternoon "window shopping" on my computer drooling at some Kate Spade merch. If only I wasn't broke from Christmas shopping! Lol. I found some ballet flats that are adorbs. And a really cute tote. Maybe I will get a bonus this year and spend it entirely on impractical things. Lol.

Well my session went pretty darn well today, I'm happy to say! While I was driving there, the rain stopped and the sun came out, so that was a big help!! Anyway I did another sand tray and we talked about some of the stuff I've been processing all week. It was a calm, helpful, and good discussion.
I asked her about the letter idea and explained a little about why and she basically said no, which I suppose I expected. But she also shared some other stuff from her own experience as related to the why I asked for the letter and it was really helpful. I left there today feeling very confident and ready to say our goodbyes next week, and excited to begin the next stage of my life journey - I told her again today how I am still feeling so strongly that this next stage can't begin until I take this step first and she agreed. We were a freakin' awesome team, she and I! And I'll be forever grateful for that. Last edited by ArtieTheSequal; Dec 10, 2021 at 06:55 PM.. |

I got my December subscription box today. I'm going to try not to open it until next Friday... a reward to myself after L and I have our final session. I think I'll put it in the trunk of my car so I'm not tempted by seeing it all the time.

Artie, I'm glad it went well, though sorry she isn't open to doing the letter. Did you ask at all about if you could update her in the future? Also, I like the idea of saving the box for after your last session. What was the box called again? Looking for Christmas/birthday (January) ideas for myself!

Thanks, LT. I do understand her reasons for not wanting to do it, after we talked about it. Not yet, on the future updates question; I figured I'd bring that question up next week. The one I get is the Mindful Souls one. I've been really pleased so far! In fact I wore one of the necklaces I got in a previous box, to my session today it's a piece of rose quartz tied into string. My intention was to cancel after the January box, but I may just keep it a little longer... |

I have a 'humorous moments in therapy' a la LT from today's session. At one point early in the session I didn't know what to say and I was just sitting there looking at her. She goes "There's those puppy dog eyes again." I laughed and said something like just kill me now. Then we were both laughing.
Puppy dog eyes indeed... |

So the puppy dog eyes comparison made me think of something. In my session earlier this week, I'd talked about how I'd fought for getting a refund on something (and got it), and Dr. T started laughing, saying how it seemed so unlike me, how I tend to be more like a "field mouse." I said today how it bothered me some that he'd said that, how it made me wonder if he'd seen any progress in me in that area in the past few years, because I thought I'd made progress. He said he had definitely seen progress and apologized for what he said (a true apology, like "I'm sorry that I said that").
I thanked him and said it had been gnawing at me. Dr. T: "Like how a mouse would be gnawing?" I glared at him over the computer screen. |

L and I are doing such good work right now. We are translating certain phrases I say, and looking at their deeper meanings. For example, if I say "Go away" what I really mean is "Come closer, I need you". Both are true statements of how I feel. That when I say "Go away", it's my fears of rejection, being hurt, and my big needs. What I need to learn is to express those needs. Of course, this is going to take some practice and figuring out how to express myself appropriately and what it is that I need. But we are making such good progress. I'm proud of us!
