I tried CBT with psychiatrist/therapist,i dissapointed with the results of CBT so far, didn't helped me as i expected, now i stopped from this doctor and trying with other therapist, the Schema therapy that promising treatment to personality disorders.
I need to recover from this hell, the issues causing me this avoidant behavior from childhood years since now,are difficult to overcome just with psychotherapy or some antidepressants. These patterns need to be changed are deep inside.Therapy is expensive as i dont have stable work, need 200€ every month to help my self. |

Hi Sansiro, What is AVPD? I think it's terrific that you recognize you need to work on yourself. Knowing you need help and support is the first step.

As far as I know it, AVPD stands i for avoidant personality disorder. Early on in my therapy, my t was concerned that i had that, but as we moved through the years, she realized that while i definitely have many avoidant characteristics, it isn’t a personality disorder.

It makes sense to me that long-term problems will take long-term work to improve, so a short-term therapy like CBT might not be a good fit. I don't know much about Schema therapy but I hope it helps you. From what I've read the most important thing is not really the theoretical orientation but the relationship you have with the therapist, so the best is to find someone you feel like you can work with.
