Especially since shes the same age as me. But I've been called fat phobic before and I've had people refuse to work with me before because of it but lately its been an issue and I dont want to offend her but I want to talk about my obsession with weight and fear of gaining it but I'm worried she's going to think I'm secretly judging her or something.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to talk about this without a bunch of unintenional offensive bullcrap coming out of my mouth? I dont have the best social skills.

You could maybe say that you are worried you will gain wait, because you crave cookies, or because in your period of life, many people do, or because in the past 2 months you gained x amount. I think the "because" part is important, as this is the one where she could get the wrong idea from, but I do think you should be able to bring it up

I think therapist might be hard to offend, and even if you did they can't really tell you that can they. They should have done lots of work on themselves to get to this point so I'm sure you can talk freely about it.

We might have said loads of things that offend them and would never know...stuff about people, places, politics, family ..we just can't see those things so have no idea if they go against who the therapist is.

So I would just tell them exactly how you feel about your weight issues, if they are upset about it then that's something they need to work through with their own therapist.

Don't assume that weight will be a sensitive subject because she is fat. Some women are happy in our own skin (amazingly, given the pressure for us to change ourselves to fit). If you do offend her, she will either tell you and you can discuss it or she will take it to her own support sources. Either way, it's your therapy so speak about your issues, don't try and manage her feelings for her. This could be a chance for you to develop social skills and see how the boundaries of your self interact with others.

Bring it up the same way you would do any issue. It's the T's job to take care of themselves. No topic should be off limit in therapy.

It's your therapy, say what you want. I think most people have hang ups about weight. I'm sure she's dealt with it before and may have some useful insights herself.

Do you think you are judging her? Are you fat phobic? If not its your session and her training should help her discern the difference between a mental disorder and someone judging,

It's your therapy and it should be okay to bring it up to your t like any other issue. I don't think she will get offended. Hugs
