Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

Has this got something to do with dying on a toilet? Pot can equal toilet here or maybe marijuana less so marijuana

Artie, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It will take some time to deal with it.

QVC sells lots of Beekman 1802 bundles and some of them seem like really good deals. I like the soaps because they don't dry out your skin.

Julieanne never texted me back. I am being stubborn now and not texting her. I don't want to come off as pushy either. If she never texts me back does that mean my therapist ghosted me? Heh, that would be a new one. I wonder if she got sick or something. She didn't seem flaky. Then again, I've only had her for two sessions. But I was keeping her up to date when I was in IOP and she always responded. This is a text about an appointment by the way, not a long drawn out text about how I am. So it's weird that she isn't getting back to me. Maybe she really does not want to have a session in December and is fighting with herself. I'm fine if she doesn't want a session. She's the one who brought it up on Monday's text chain. I'm just very, very baffled.

I'm sorry, Kit. I hope she gets back to you soon. I would think if she'd offered it, she wouldn't just not respond. Maybe she's having phone issues?

Thanks, MobiusPsyche.

Yes, we love these soaps for that reason. I can tell the difference in my skin just after using a different kind while we were out of town for 3 days, it felt all dry again. I used the good soap this morning and my skin was like yes! yes! I'll check out QVC for sure.

So sorry--she should at least reply to let you know if you can see her or not. Personally, I'd follow up with something like, "Just making sure you got my text and wondering if we can meet Saturday." They should get back to you quickly on appointments. My T usually replies to emails in the mornings, but if emails or texts relate to scheduling, he typically replies ASAP, generally within a few hours if during the daytime (not if I emailed him at 2 am).

Thanks LT.

I considered texting her again, but I have sent two texts that she hasn't answered so at some point I have to leave it in her court.

I'm doing better than I was at the beginning of the week so I don't feel I really NEED the session, it would just be NICE.

I'm just very baffled over what to do. I figure if she doesn't text me at all this week, then I'll send her a Merry Christmas text next week. If she doesn't respond to that one, I'll text her the following week to see if we can set up something for the next week (first week in January). But I just don't want to seem like I am a pain. Maybe I am too ambivalent for her. Maybe I should have been more on the side of having a session.

Maybe she got sick.

Maybe she died.

Maybe she is in the hospital.

Maybe she lost her phone.

Maybe she got covid.

Maybe she decided she doesn't want me as a client.

Maybe she decided she didn't want to put up with me.

Maybe she decided she hates me.

Maybe I was a little too honest about the level my urges were at.

Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.

It's driving me batty. I keep coming up with lots of horrible things that could have happened to her, or lots of reasons why she might not want to work with me, and I'm not feeling good about it.

I am not a giant fan of texting professionals. I called or emailed. Texting, to me, is easier to erase, not see, forget about etc. I would call or email and wait. This a pretty busy time all around and all sorts of goofy stuff is happening (if even a small percentage of student excuses are true). Not following up doesn't hurt her but seems to be bother you SK - and you have the key to stop it. Contact her a different way before jumping to conclusions and thinking the worst.

I asked my pdoc for a note for Jury duty. I don't know if he will give me one, but I don't think it would be good to be hallucinating through the proceedings. We'll see. My work doesn't pay for jury duty anyway so I usually can get out of it.

I would rather email. I have her email because I have to set up the Zoom appointments. But she said she prefers texting and to text her updates and let her know if I am feeling vulnerable, frightened or in crisis. So I am trying to play by her rules. But I think I am getting burned.

If she said text, then I would text one more time and see. I advise clients who are professionals not to text with their clients (I am not just talking about therapists). There are still a lot of privacy problems with texting

A couple days ago I contacted Visa and asked for any free spots that might come up between now and my next appointment. She had one today.

It was useful. She’s growing on me. I like how she either avoids the usual therapist claptrap and BS or at least manages and bothers to make it sound new and original.

Also I don’t think she could double book, given the online scheduling system she uses.

Still trying to figure out why she recommended I read “The Ugly American,” though. Anyone read that book?
