I have a viral infection. Its not covid and its not contagious. I had an in person therapy appointment for tommrow morning and I figured I should let her know that I wasn't feeling 100% but it wasn't anything she had to worry about getting herself but would she prefer doing zoom instead of in person
And she responded back and said "thanks for letting me know. We can move the session to zoom." Was this the right thing to do tell her and then have her move the appointment to virtual? She is a very paranoid person, she told me but I do also know I should have told her too that I was not feeling 100% good. I have only had one in person session since the week of Christmas and its giving me bad 2020 vibes/memories. My mom says its for the best though. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

I think she did the reasonable thing under the circumstances.

I can understand your disappointment but I think she made a good choice considering the situation we are all living with.

I think it was reasonable for the therapist to go to zoom

I think it was the wise decision to make. Yes, it was smart to tell your T you're sick, and yes she was in her right to switch to telehealth.

I think you did the right thing, though I'm sorry you were disappointed. Even if it's not Covid, I could understand a T not wanting to risk getting a virus, as it could lead her to have to miss work, plus feel awful, etc. With Zoom being an option now, I can see her choosing that, as you could still have a session, though not in the preferred setting.
I imagine once (if?) my T resumes in person, if I let him know in advance that I had anything more than a mild cold, I could see him wanting to opt for Zoom. Even if he might have been fine with it before. I think many people are just more jumpy about illnesses right now. |

I think you both did the right thing. Viruses are contagious, so it's reasonable for her to want to avoid that. Plus, if you passed it on to her, then she passed it on to other clients, that would add to the strain on processing tests because then they'd all get tested too.
ETA - Even before COVID, my therapist would let me know if she had a cold ahead of time and I did the same. In those days, we usually went ahead with in person. However, I will also note we seemed to get colds at the same time too frequently for comfort - seems highly likely we were infecting each other. __________________ Life is hard. Then you die. Yesterday I was thinking I did and didn't do the right thing at the same time This morning I woke up at 1 and I felt like crap and I was like "oh yeah there is no way I could have made it in person."
But it went fine and I am her first client so she did the session at her house and is going to the office later. My mom said my therapist probably appreciates that. Even after though my stomach is still pretty queasy. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

I think it was fine that you wanted to tell your therapist about your infection. You felt the need to tell her, and, so, you did. Nothing wrong with that. So, the ball was in her court to make a decision, which she did. I presume you foresaw her possibly moving your appt to a Zoom. All good.👍

I’m not jumping down your throat I missed it somebody pointed it out to me and then I corrected myself. Not too long ago you had a thread about meeting with your therapist with no mask so it’s not like I made it up in my head.If you feel like I am jumping down your throat the only reason it would feel that way is because you very often contemplate wearing a mask or not wearing a mask even when you are ill. You have talked before about meeting in person with various professionals and therapists and not being sure about wearing a mask. When I posted an article in some weight loss thread you accuse me of bringing up again weighing yourself every day which I did not. And you obviously didn’t read that article. Now, because I’m mentioning some thing that every government , every health organization and every single scientist in the scientific community recommends which is wearing a mask you are getting upset about it. Why is that? If you are wearing your mask there’s nothing to get upset about right? And like I said I didn’t realize you were having telehealth because recently you didn’t have telehealth but Susanna corrected me and I corrected myself. What more would you like me to do? I hold no ill will toward you Mountain Dew I really don’t. Sometimes I get concerned when you talk about the way you take your medicine or risk taking behavior but I don’t dislike you and I’m not looking to fight with you. I really just missed the part about telehealth and thankfully somebody corrected me so that I was able to admit that I was wrong. I'm a bit late, but I remember a few years back when I was a bit ill and I told my T I couldn't come to my session. We scheduled a phone call and he said he appreciated me telling him a lot. He said sometimes people come in sick, and then he is at risk of getting whatever they have. It doesn't matter if it's covid or something else, it's still "endangering" somebody and most people do not appreciate being sick. Plus, depending on how long it takes for the illness to take hold, you going in sick once could mean that next week your T can't work due to being sick and you will miss the session completely. I know it sucks to suddenly miss a session, but it's still better to have a zoom session than not have a session in a week at all.

I think it’s good that you told her and that she switched to telehealth. I had COVID a few weeks ago, and 4 days after I developed symptoms I still tested negative twice. It wasn’t until day 5 of symptoms that I finally tested positive. I’m guessing the virus hadn’t replicated enough in my upper respiratory system for me to get a positive result those first 4 days, even though it was indeed COVID. So basically, you can never be too careful!

Ok second go around of this question. I still don't feel good. And this time the ER today is highly suggesting its covid. Should I go to remote again in general because I still don't feel good? Like should I email her right now? I really don't want to piss her or the office off. Maybe I'll ask her what shenthinks again.
