I was supposed to have an in person therapy session today. I was at the gas station getting something to eat and it was like 15 minutes before my appointment and she called and asked if I could do virtual instead because she wasn't feeling good. She called my mom actually. I said yeah I'd do virtual because I know in these days you just have to adapt if someones sick. But I'm wondering why she came into the office in the first place, why she only called me 15 minutes before the session, and how she knew it was possible for me to get back home and set up the ipad and everything in time.
Does anyone else find this kinda strange? Again I didn't mind doing the virtual session it was actually very productive.

I would feel disoriented by this. But I'm wondering if it was something that came on really suddenly? Like she started having a bad reaction to something she ate or started having chills or feeling hot so she was concerned she had a fever? She likely was just trying to be careful. Maybe she thought you could have done the session from your car if needed? I know my T says some of his clients meet virtually from their phone in their cars for privacy.

Most likely she started feeling poorly after she had made it into work and chose not to risk exposing clients just in case. Seems like the prudent thing to do.

She didn't know it was possible for you to get home and set up the iPad in time for the session which is why she phoned to ask if that was possible.

Are you sure she even came into the office?
T had to cancel on me 4 times quickly when I was seeing her. Once for an emergency surgery, another time for unknown reasons, third time was morning sickness, and the last time was because she had to be on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy.

My mom said she called from a private number and I couldnt quite tell if she was in her office or not but she did mention that she was going to try and switch her other clients to virtual as well so I'm guessing she was in the office.

I personally wouldn't give a therapist my mother's phone number unless it was just my general home number - which I didn't do either because I only gave therapists a burner number, but other than that I don't find it odd.

I don't find it that strange. I've had T's cancel on me last minute. At least she was able to do an online appointment rather than none at all. I wouldn't read anything into it. HUGS Kit

I think she'll only talk to my mom because shes so overly (in my opinon) concerned about boundaries and stuff. She does have my own number and my email. I know I can just tell them not to contact her anymore but she is really freaked out for some unknown reason that I don't take personally. So whatever makes her feel better. I'm not sure my mom likes it but thats another topic.
