Saw this question on another site and have found it quite interesting to think about

For me, I’d walk in, sit on the floor then T would walk in, rearrange some stuff and sit on the floor next to me. T would ditch the paper and pen, tell me that she’s here and that it’s okay, and she’d just sit with with me. No words needed except the occasional reassurance or safety reminder. Ideally, this would lead me to feel emotionally safe enough to let the walls down a little and shed some tears. T would then perhaps gentle put a hand on my shoulder, or reach for my hand.
I’d leave the session feeling drained, but held and supported. I wouldn’t be afraid of her seeing “me” from then on.

I've imagined T and me sitting on the floor and placing the palms of our hands upon each other (not holding hands, just sort of feeling the other person's energy), but really, it would scare the living **** out of me. I wouldn't be able to tolerate it.

My ideal session would be to walk in to the room and for T to treat me like I've been going there for years and not like I'm a new person every week. To feel like I'm on solid ground. To be able to talk properly about things that would actually help me... to have some realisations that are useful...to not feel like an outsider. To have some input on what I'm doing wrong.
