I use a knife to cut them but you can use a food processor. The knife takes longer but I hate cleaning the fp. I just heat up some olive oil, toss in a chopped onion and maybe a clove or two of garlic, then toss in the brussels sprouts and quickly saute -toss in a little knob of butter, salt, pepper, and eat

Thanks, sounds good. We very rarely use our food processor for the same reason.

I do use mine for making nut butters or if I was making tons of something.

I decided to go to the supermarket my ex and I used to shop at, something I have only done once in the last four or five years. They now charge a 50 cent fee to pay with a credit card. Seems bogus. This isn't a small chain store. I'm wondering when or if I'll ever stop being triggered by the sight of boxed wine. Feels like nobody gets why that triggers me or understands what kind of memories it dredges up for me. Or if they did understand, they'd be like "get over it already". I hate my life.

No triggers are triggers and deserve compassion. You’ve been traumatised- you don’t get over that overnight. I think EDMR therapy could help you work through with the triggers NP.

I've wished a couple times that I could switch to her, but Dr. T has said that would be bad practice on her part to take me on because they work together some.

One of my biggest areas of progress with him is listening to my own voice and feelings more. Rather than being so affected by what others tell me. He agrees and mentioned it a week or so ago. There are some other things, too, but that's the one that jumps out the most and affects me in various parts of my life.

I think I've also gotten better at communicating with some people, like my H. Funny that Dr. T seems to have helped more with that than ex-MC....

There's some other stuff, too, that I might type up later.
Well done on your progress.

On a side note If she was okay with working with you long term- I don’t see the problem personally. It’s not about it being bad form just that it works better for YOU.

I used to get upset over much smaller/less consequential things than what NP has been through, and EMDR has helped tremendously. If it bothers you, it matters. The other nice thing is that you don't necessarily have to tell the therapist what you're reprocessing if it's something you don't want to talk about out loud.

Hi Couch,

I'm sitting here with my phone beside me, and the number for the local suicide loss support group.

This time of year demands a lot from me anyway, so I don't know why I'm asking more of myself....but I've been informed that I need the paperwork if I want to attend the groups in person.

At this point, I'd like to have the option.

Well done for trying to get more support Lost. Hope you can find what works best for you. In person can feel totally different to just online so makes full sense why it could work better.

Can you ask to be added to a waitlist in case any openings pop up.

Thanks, Cake.

I made the call, got through to an answering machine, and then the woman rang me straight back.

I think it was a good conversation.

Possible trigger:

There are some things that are hard to talk about, whatever the circumstances.

Hugs, Velcro. I'm sorry... I agree with Lemon on trying to get put on a cancellation list (especially considering it was your doctor who canceled, not you).

Last night I learned a new crochet stitch, don't know the exact name of it, it's a type of Tunisian crochet done on a long (11-inch) crochet hook, and is kinda like a cross between knitting and crochet. It's fun actually, and I'm gonna try making an actual thing out of it next. I do see that I need to "loosen up" my stitches are so tight it wants to curl up. One thing I like about it is that you 'carry' each color up the sides so you don't have a bunch of ends to weave in. Here's my first attempt/sample swatch:

Navajo Rabbit, I still feel absolutely steamrollered by yesterday's interaction with the woman from the SL support group.

I'm not sure it's meant to work that way.

Hugs, Lost. Agreed that it doesn't seem like she should have been asking that question. I hope you can still find the group helpful!
