Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

Year 244 Philip the Arab was the Roman Emperor. Now thats a great expectation.

Kind of jumping the gun by starting a new couch 100 -200+ posts early - what kind of pain meds are you on? I hope your eye heals well.

Hope your eye heals well, una. I had eye surgery as a baby, which of course I don't remember. However it sounds very scary to me as an adult.

I saw it was in the 90's! 790's? And i was like, why is no one starting the new thread? I never liked the numbers 8 or 9 anyway, 7 was always my favorite. In an italian card deck, it goes ace thru 7, queen, jack, king. Yes, the jack is greater than the queen, hes a man.

But you are right, i dont usually make these kindsa goofs. My screwed up depth perception is driving me crazy. Cant pour stuff into my coffee, cant put my blood sample on my glucose strip. The healing seems to be proceeding apace, which is nothing short of miraculous. Seems like it should have cost (insurance) more than 20k. But not bad for an hour's work!

Hi everybody. Waiting on my new antidepressant. I saw the pdoc on 4.19.23 and he was going to have his practice manager send in the prior authorization. Well it's been a couple of weeks so I checked with my insurance company but they said they never got it. Then I checked with my pdoc's office and for some reason they thought my health insurance was changing so they were waiting on me to tell them who the new one was. But it isn't changing. So the practice manager was going to send it in today even though she doesn't usually work on Tuesdays. Then the insurance company says it takes seven business days. So maybe I will have it late next week. I also had to call the pdoc office because my pharmacy said they didn't have some of my prescriptions. Not like the pills but the prescription from the doctor. I don't know what happened because they got some of them. So the practice manager was going to ask the doctor to resend the ones that apparently did not go through. Hopefully I will have all my medications soon.

Honesty might be the best policy, but it is hard.

We were discussing how we might handle being impacted by participants' work as practitioners in today's meeting.

I kind of heard myself talking about how a certain potential topic hits close to home lately...and now my team are aware of what I am dealing with.

I feel like I overshared and made it about me.

That feeling sucks.

Well, I guess processing different points of view can lead to a lot of understanding. L and I figured out today why I love my animals so much and why I'm very picky with touch. The hard part is still accepting things as abusive or trauma. Therapy is HARD!

Now that April/poetry month is over, my current project is crocheted cotton dishcloths. Here's the first two I made this evening:

Agreed that it's hard! Glad you had some good insights though. I've found those can often come out of conflict/disagreement with my therapist, too.

I messed up my first Door Dash order today. When I did a delivery today I forgot to give the person his drink. I realized it when I saw the cup still in my car. I think what happened was since I handed the person the order from my car and I didn't think to look for a drink, usually when I get out of my car with the order I grab the drinks first. I called the person back when I realized and he told me not to worry about it. But I still feel a little upset that I messed up his order.

My dad's birthday was today. We put off celebrating it until Sunday so that my sister and her girls could come. I found out that my sister would rather go to her friend's son's birthday party and to the fair then celebrate my dad's birthday... I'm so sad and mad. Our one parent who has done almost anything and everything for her. I'm done with her for now if she doesn't come. It's just us (my dad, H, me, and then her and the girls). Ugh!

Well, good news is that I made my dad's day. He opened my presents which he really loved. I hung out with him all day, I made him his favorite burger for dinner, and we bought him a coffee from Better Buzz. Saturday, we're taking him out to breakfast. And Sunday, he'll get the chocolate cherry cupcakes that he wanted.

It took me a few extra days (plus I started a couple days early), but I just finished the 100 miles!

Dr. T said yesterday that it seemed like this challenge got me to realize how walking regularly can be helpful to me. He said it was a bit funny that after 5 years with him, it took this challenge, as he often mentions exercise (the past few years, he'll just mention it in passing, not push me on it). But that he's glad I eventually realized it.

It's been helping with sleep (both quantity and quality), and my resting heart rate (according to Fitbit) has gone down considerably, like by 10 beats per minute in 5 weeks. Now I just need to continue it. But seeing actual improvements like that, with numbers to back it up, is a good incentive to keep with it.
