Today we drove up to Mt St Helens. Beautiful up there, despite reminders that remain from the 1980 eruption. Fascinating learning about it all. Tomorrow h and I head home. I don't want to leave our son. I wish I could stay.

If you already work from home, it would be possible to move closer to your son. Or after retirement. Just something to mull over.

Last night, I fell asleep for a bit, then woke up around 11:30. I was still awake at midnight and thought "Maybe I'll see if the aurora borealis is visible." Just then, there was a clap of thunder and it started pouring rain, so it was like, "well, never mind that!"

How weird--heavy rain just started again as I was typing that!

Tomorrow is my day in court to see what will happen with the restraining order against my sister. I'm scared. I've never done anything like this. I hope the judge will rule in my favor because she already granted me temporary restraining order, but then again my sister threw all her accusations at me.

Thanks LT. It's really hard. It's tough proving emotional abuse to a judge. Now I'm back to being afraid to leave my house. However, in 3 days we move. Then she won't know where we live.

It has been raining so much here that the ground is saturated and there is water standing everywhere. In the park by my house, the ball fields have pairs of mallards just padding around. One field had at least 8 pair. The cicadas are coming out now - so we have a chorus of cicadas and frogs as well.

Scarlet, I'm sorry for your situation! Being practical here - being somebody who had to leave an abusive situation - about her not finding out about where you're going: have you considered how and when you move at all on the day of? Consider splitting up cars, making it seem like it's one person going somewhere, coming back, another one leaving, and then go together when you know she's not looking or whatever? Of course I don't know your exact circumstances, but misleading people like that can make it harder. Also, if she knows where you usually go for some appointments (like weekly hairdresser or smth), try to change the schedule around. So she can't follow you to and from.
