I would be grateful if the Irish goodbye was more acceptable.

Seeing my gp every 6 months, rather than every 3 months, geez! On the quarterly schedule, my battery doesnt even have time to recharge before it has to switch to backup. Semiannual is much more my speed.

In summation - twice a year, good. Twice a day, insanity!

My H will do this. Though he's Irish, so I think he can get away with it more! I tend to feel guilty if we do that. And it wouldn't work with my family gatherings. We all need to hug good-bye and stuff. I tend to just sort of wave to his family (well, aside from his one uncle, who's a hugger).

this makes an argument for it- What Is an Irish Exit? Why an Irish Goodbye Is Actually Not That Rude - Thrillist

Lost, I try to only make one appointment in a day. I've actually learned to like going out and seeing the people I know (even doctors). I'll even try to go with H when he picks up food or something just to get out of the house. But doing two things (anything) in a day is overwhelming for me. And that a normal day when I'm feeling okay. Like today, 2 of my girls have grooming appointments, I have a phone call with L between drop off and pickup, I have to get groceries delivered and I have to do laundry. Today is overwhelming for me. So yes, I think it's normal to only be able to handle one social event a day especially when you're dealing with so much. Like LT's cartoon, it's okay to check out.

B. Ireland. (I am almost half Irish, plus I’ve been reading a lot of Irish literature and mysteries lately, and watching things like Bodkin. So much so I’d tell you I’m grand if you asked how I was. Also a bit cheaper to get to.)

Where would you go?
Ireland for the vote.

I do want to move there eventually.

A few Game of throne scenes were filmed there. So you could also dress up and take photos too.

Game of Thrones Tours - Experience the real film locations

Or you could do a mini tour and visit both. There’s 3 hours flight time between the two.

Look at Ryanair for cheap tickets.

Yeah i never knew knew that leaving without saying goodbye was a bad thing. But i think it was because people were always waiting for me to leave. Like my brother, or the adults, or the boy cousins, or the small cousins. I didnt have a great social life. So people at my first job had to educate me. Like to call it pasta, not macaroni.

Tonight's 'grief group' session turned into a one-to-one.

The facilitator was very supportive and even commented on one of my distress tells.

'You're shaking your head - what's happening there?'

Maybe it's because I'm feeling the distance from R already, but I have already booked a session for next Sunday.

LT - the flameless candle idea was such a success. I bought one that is very similar to what I already use with R...and it came in handy when the facilitator offered the space to light a candle tonight.

I'm attending a new-to-me online grief group tonight, where I won't know anyone.

This morning I went for a walk and then popped into a shop, where we ran into friends and ended up going for coffee. I could feel my social battery depleting by the second.

We sat there for an hour before the thought 'I need to get out of here' crossed my mind.
Shortly after that, we left.

Is this normal, or 'normal for someone who's going through a lot'?
Look up HSP. I find too much exposure to other people draining. It makes sense why you might need time to recharge.

"A few Game of throne scenes were filmed there. So you could also dress up and take photos too."

Good lord -do people actually do this? I never watched Game of Thrones my person did for one or two shows. But why on earth would someone want to dress up and take photos if they were over the age of 10? Oh well to each their own as the old lady said wish she kissed the cow.

Thanks Cake,

I've never thought about looking at grief through the HSP lens...makes so much sense now.

People do stuff like this all the time.

I was once passing through a Brony convention in Baltimore. It was a bit of a shock. Adult men stressed up as My Pretty Ponies.

Glad the candle was helpful! And that you'll be able to have a session with the facilitator Sunday.

Yeah I've seen that. On that one I'm more wondering how grown men even found out about my pretty ponies but I guess if that's your thing you find a group. Well again if somebody wants to do it I'm not trying to stop them. I would think however if you were going to dress up -it would be more like Boudica ( or Boadicea -spelling is always challenge ) -although I've never read or seen Game of Thrones so I have no idea what they dress up like. I mostly think of dress up things like the guy who lives in the basement and comes out for comic con. Although for some reason the guy in Japan who has had a full-size collie suit made for himself didn't really cause me to blink -I don't really know why except maybe because he's just an individual doing it better than it being some sort of organized activity where someone's making money off of it

for me it's just I don't like violent dystopian TV shows. I honestly don't watch any shows with violence or even most dramas. Actually I don't watch a lot of stuff in general because reading is faster to get to the point. it makes me crazy actually when my colleagues make a video for students to watch because students like to watch videos. They're going to be in a reading profession so they need to read and write. I watched all of Bridgerton through YouTube clips- that way I can just watch the important parts and get rid of all the chaff. and by important parts I mean only the scenes with Simone Ashley in them.
