I can’t see a way to add this to my other thread, but I’m curious to hear other people’s experiences with this ‘yearning’ feeling for the next session to come.

Hi Brown Owl,

Thank you for providing the space to discuss this.
I voted Other, because I actually ended up talking about this with my therapist briefly, during our last in person session until September.

'I'm not putting myself on a pedestal,' she said 'I know that it's about the space we have created.'

For me, that is a space where I feel heard and deeply understood. Spaces where I can talk openly about my feelings are few and far between.

When I was informed that she intended to work virtually for the month of August, I cried because that precious space is changing.

Yes, it's temporary, but right now it hurts.

I believe that many people seek therapy because they want to understand themselves better, and also to be understood. At their very best, a skilled therapist can offer this.

It's definitely not a comfortable feeling, and I empathise with you deeply...but you are not alone in feeling as you do.

Take care,

Lost

I've had a gazillion Ts, but with my current one that is a yes varying on how much support I feel I need/how lonely I feel. Im struggling massively right now and don't see her until Wednesday, and it suuuucks. I have to stop seeing her in a month if I go ahead with the move too, and I already know I'm going to freak out. I had a pdoc like that too. I called his crisis line after he ended services with me. Learned to respect some boundaries a bit that day. He works at an IOP now and I so desperately want to show up and just catch up, but he'll probably think "just move tf on already! It's been almost 10 years!"
