Have you ever gotten sick in your therapists office?

I did today and she was totally cool about the whole thing. She offered me her garbage can and at the end of the session I just tied up the bag and she took the whole can.

I guess I feel kinda bad. I had been sick all morning including at the doctors. I don't have a bug, I have GI issues. I've had a lot of therapists offer to let me use their garbage cans, but that was when I just had an anxiety stomach ache. This was the first time I've actually thrown up in therapy.

She said it wasn't a big deal but idk. I feel like she thinks I'm weird now.

Has this ever happened to you?

I'm glad she was cool about it. I asked my T once what would happen, like I feared his being disgusted. He said if I felt sick, he'd put the trashcan (wicker, but lined with a plastic bag) in front of me and would be OK if I were sick. I have emetophobia, so it's something I worry about in general. I often take ginger before a session to be safe.

I hope you feel better soon...And I doubt she thinks you're weird--more likely that she's concerned and feels bad for you that you were sick.

I had food poisoning and probably should not have come in. My t's office was a studio apt co-op, so i went to the bathroom and he actually left the building! I was soooo grateful for that! I cleaned up thoroughly afterwards.
