I have an awesome chocolate cheesecake recipe! And one time I added chili powder to it for like a Mexican chocolate, and that came out good too!

So relieved my p-doc let me switch to virtual today. She wanted in-person because I haven't seen her in about 4 years. But I'm feeling a bit unwell, it's super hot out, and her building is across the street from Dr. T's old building (and in the same complex as ex-MC and ex-T), and I just didn't have it in me to deal with all those things today. Maybe I can do in-person the next time. But I already feel a mess, and that might have put me even more over the edge.

R ended up having a cancellation tomorrow, so I'm seeing her then, I think, instead of, or possibly in addition to, Friday.

I think there's something about this time of year for me where I just really struggle. I mean, Dr. T is currently on a long drive to an athletic competition today (returning Monday night), which is an annual thing, so that contributes. But late summer/early fall has been a struggle for me going way, way back. I do have a concert Sunday, but it's not exactly the happiest music, so not sure whether that will help or not!

Hi all,

I watched this documentary this afternoon, and I'm glad I did.

Sensitive: The Untold Story

If the concept of being 'highly sensitive' resonates with you at all, then it's worth a look.
You can rent it from their website or watch on Amazon Prime or Apple TV, I believe.

Now I need to investigate Elaine Aron's book.

Thanks for sharing, Lost. I have a copy of one her books around, so I'll check this out. I have Prime, so hopefully will be free for me.

P-doc appointment went well--I do like her. She didn't lecture me on anything. She seemed to agree with the other p-doc I saw that Latuda is a good thing to try, so I'll give that a shot. She thinks bipolar 2 is a possibility, but said it can be difficult to figure out because of overlapping symptoms. But that I clearly have a mood disorder, so she'll focus on things that help mood.

It was sort of funny: At one point, she asked whether my husband would also say I'd been struggling lately. I said yes, and "I could have him come downstairs and tell you himself."

While I do not consider myself to be highly sensitive - every test and therapist I hired have suggested such. It is an interesting concept I suppose -but I more am concerned about how those who are can work it out for themselves to function in the world that actually exists

Thanks for sharing this, Lost. I'm going to check it out as I definitely qualify as sensitive.

Anything. That one is sensitive. That something bothers ya. Denial is the opposite of processing something.

In therapy i used to yell at my last t for skipping steps. I was like, but how do you get from a to g? I need to walk thru things. Maybe its not denial for other people - maybe they are smarter than i am.

That’s a river in Egypt. Or a misspelled mountain in Alaska. Judging by her weather reports, SD is in neither place.

I started reading The Highly Sensitive Person once on No. 1’s recommendation (I at least tried the things therapists recommended back then. I’ve grown since then.). A few pages in I had to quit because the author demonstrated that she had no clue about the Supreme Court’s function in American government.

I am sensitive to such things.

I forgot if I told y'all i got my hair cut super short recently? It's like a spiky pixie kind of cut. And I really love it, it's so easy to style. I'd been thinking about doing it for a while, and finally just decided to go for it and I'm so glad I did!

That's great, Artie! I keep pondering whether to go short again, so this is inspiration.

Hair grows. If it’s something you want to try do it.

I last cut mine to just around my ears last year. It was summer and I was annoyed at being bothered and hot. I regretted it a bit later, but it grew back.

I had a balayage done in April, but I’m already tired of it and want something different. I have a blow dry appointment on Monday. Maybe I’ll ask.

My good thing….I have had homegrown tomatoes and cheese every day for the past two weeks. I love summer. Also I tried a new NYT recipe with tomatoes and eggplant and zucchini and it was delicious.

So much for voicing my fears around technical difficulties to R.

My laptop ran out of battery in the closing minutes of today's session.
I plugged it in and was able to rejoin the meeting using her link.

Today's conversation burned when she said 'In person is my preference, but here we are online, and it's working.'

Technically, yes.

Emotionally...this isn't anywhere near therapy.

On the plus side, I've emailed my boss and asked for a meeting to discuss my access needs off the back of today's conversation.

I'd like to think that's a therapy gold star moment.
