We had an exciting evening with a bat in the house. The dogs and cat were bonking around and the bat was flying around - super fun. The bat finally landed on a dog bed and I picked the bed up and sort of defenestrated him out and up of a window (the out and up was how the bat web site said to do it)

I didn't want to hurt the little guy - just wanted to get him safely outside.

Haha....good done, Una!

I'd be a pretty inept Bond.
More like Rowan Atkinson's Johnny English.

Good done?

Apparently I'm not much of a typist either.

Couch Workout Club day 65

Walked around town for an hour this morning and got my steps in.

So impressed by you, Lost. And really proud. I need to get off my butt and start moving. My mom invited H and I to Universal Studios and we had to decline because we didn't feel we could do the walk Really sad.

My MIL broke her hip today. Doctors said she probably won't walk again. She has to give up her dogs.
Possible trigger:

I'm so devastated for her. Only 68 and mentally still fully there. So sad.

I'm so sorry, Scarlet.

That sounds like a hell of a leap for the doctor to make, though.

Has she declined or been refused for physiotherapy?

Terribly sad about the dogs.

SD..I think I read something where you can put gloves on and actually pick the bat up to put them back outside. I don’t know how true or safe it is though.

Ugh, I'm so sorry. I'd see if she could get a second opinion on the walking. And see if there's something else that can be done with the dogs (if she can't keep them)-could a rescue get involved maybe?

She wants us to call the humane society. That's where she got the most aggressive one from. The other one, her friend went to jail and abandoned him with my MIL.

I could look into like a chihuahua rescue? They'd probably be better with aggressive ones than the humane society.

I'll tell her about a second opinion. We don't know anything about physiotherapy yet. I'm sure they'd have her do it even to gain back a little mobility, right? You have to let a person try.

I know that you can and we do have leather gloves -but bats are quite fragile it seems and you kind of have to know how to pick them up so you don't hurt their wings or feet. I would have resorted to that if I had to -but glad I didn't.I like bats -but they are oddly fragile and not great flyers

I’ve been having bad period like cramps off and on for 2 weeks. I really hope this is just a product of getting older and nothing too serious. I figure I’d give it another week to see if it continues before making an appointment.

I had a couple of bad attacks of endometriosis in my forties, where i felt like i was impaled thru just my left ovary on a 2x2x8. Make way! I gently massaged the heck out of that sucker, and ten years later i saw an article on the webs that said massage is a good solution.

Good luck. They were the worst cramps i ever had. Like ibuprophen barely touched them. It was a walk-in gyn who dxed it and took a wait and see approach.

if it continues, I'd get it checked out. Are you in perimenopause? Because there's apparently a thing called something like "phantom periods," where you get all the symptoms of having a period, like cramps, mood swings, etc., but don't actually have the period. I'm in perimenopause and have had this before, so I googled it. But the cramps part only lasted maybe a week. Hope it's just that and nothing more.

Thanks Una. I’ll try the massage and see if that helps. They were hurting bad the other day and 800mgs of Motrin didn’t touch them.

Thanks LT. I haven’t had a period since I was 35. I’m 44 but only because I’m on BC continuously so I’m in a “fake” menopause of sorts. It definitely feels like a phantom period. All the symptoms are there. I’m moody, tired, crampy. I’ll definitely go get checked if it goes past another week. I did just have my annual a month ago and everything checked out okay.
