Yikes, Artie.
That's an awful dream. I went out for dinner with some friends a few years ago to a local Italian restaurant. Several members of our party are wheelchair users. The meal was unremarkable, but what happened at the end of the evening was ridiculous. As soon as we had paid, we pretty much got chucked out. They started clearing the table and told us to wait for our transport outside. Nothing negative had happened, as far as I could tell. Really strange. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

My MIL's surgery went okay? I'm not sure why, but she needs a blood transfusion. It might not even be because of the surgery. She wasn't in good health beforehand. She's desperate for PT to hurry up and get home. She misses her dogs so much. I'm glad we haven't given them up yet. H and I have been going everyday to feed them and clean up after them. But the 2 hrs round trip drive is a lot for us. His mom got paperwork about the humane society taking and boarding your dogs for 10 days? We're going to look into that. The chihuahua rescue won't take in unadoptable dogs, and the humane society said if unadoptable dogs are surrendered, they will be put down. We're trying to help her keep them.

Who says the dogs are unadoptable?
Surely they have to assess these things before they make a decision? __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

Hire a trainer.

If the dogs have bitten anyone or appear aggressive - the owner needs to report such - it is not fair to anyone to send a dog with known biting tendencies into a home where a child or the dog could be hurt or worse. It is not just for the protection of the human but the dog as well. As soon as a dog is reported to be a biter - that can mean the end. I am not against humane euthanasia for pets or humans for that matter but I would do it privately with the best vet I could find rather than leave them to the frightening surroundings of a kill shelter. But I would first try a trainer or even more than one.

I'm not sure hiring a trainer is an option right now. I don't want to put the dogs down period. And I'm not going to be the one who calls. She has to be. But I agree, SD. If it has to happen, it should not be in a shelter. It should be private and with good people (preferably the owner). I hate that some owners won't stay for it and the dog is alone and scared.

Thanks, SD.
I understand the implications now, I just wasn't firing on all cylinders when I made my initial comment. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

I just burnt my hand and finger. I was stupid. Some food fell between the grill of a gas stove and I tried to get it out forgetting it was just on. I actually have a sear mark.

Boy i am beat. I woke up at 5 am to try to clear a path to the farthest corner of my apartment but at 9 am i was still 3 feet short of my goal. Pretty good for me, though. I havent been back there in 10 years i dont think. I think the dust is forming limestone.
The apartment helper had to put some chairs in the hallway to make enough room for the new air conditioner guy to work, and i am too weak to wrestle them back in. Plus the guy is coming back sometime today. If somebody steals them, oh well. Otherwise i should be revived enough to bring them back in when he returns. I was warned late last week that this would be happening, but i was having a gall bladder attack over the weekend and feeling like crap. So a few salads later and i developed a plan - clean up the kitchen and use it as a staging area - and from there i actually made some progress. Anyway, now i feel like i can address the hoard. It feels more like daily, bite-size pieces. |

I just need to rant.
H's boss is seriously mental. The wife told the company (7 employees total) that they are no longer to tell the boss bad news or anything negative. Today, the boss says that employees are not allowed to schedule meetings with each other. And in their morning meeting, they must now raise their hands if they wish to speak, but even then they might not be allowed. The company runs med spas. Instead of the professional site H built him, he now wants his website and marketing to look and sound like Elle Woods from Legally Blonde... Also, H developed a list of SEO marketing terms that are and aren't allowed in ads. The boss wants H to give up the list so he can give it away for free... There's even more idiotic and insane ideas that are also illegal and unethical. I've been trying to get H to look for another job for months now, but he keeps making excuses. He is overworked (12 hr + days plus weekends) and unpaid here. __________________ "Odium became your opium..." ~Epica |

Yikes, Scarlet.
H's boss sounds like a complete posterior. What does the boss' wife have to do with anything? My boss has offered me an out for the murder mystery workshop on Saturday, and I don't know what to do. "I am giving you permission to take care of yourself." I don't want my grief to affect my work. Apparently they don't feel that I can leave the room without causing concern among the kids. They may be upset by the sense that they have done something wrong. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

It's nice your boss is giving you that option. Do you want to go on Saturday? And how will it affect your mental well-being? Put yourself first. Sometimes putting yourself first helps others more. Like the concept of filling your cup before you fill others. It's okay to have needs.

Thanks, Scarlet.
I'm not overly comfortable with it, and yet it's my job. I am hoping to have a conversation with my contact at the helpline tomorrow. "We don't think that you are incapable of doing your job" my boss said "but we need facilitators who can hold the space, and I am not saying that you can't, but it may be difficult for you given the circumstances." __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

I think it's OK for you to choose to take care of yourself here, Lost. To take the out that was offered.
