Geez. They should at least have drawn the curtains. Not much of a view that night. Geez.

Was anyone else up almost all night? There might be a door knob sized hole in my bathroom wall from slamming the door open last night when H pissed me off. I ran to Home Depot stupid early this AM to buy a little drywall repair kit and I’ll patch it tonight when I get home from work. I think I need to leave the house for a few days. I might go stay with my sister. I don’t want to stay with my mom because she only lives a few doors down from me. While my sister is close by she’s not walking distance. My work day is going to be non stop because the 5 year old in my care is off school all week. There is a 2 day teacher convention in this area but somehow this resulted in school being closed all week this week. She needs to be kept busy or she bounces off the walls.

If more people cared openly, chances are fewer people would reach that point.
People need people most in their darkest moments. What else would you have them do? I really don't understand what, other than in a general sense of "that is too bad", any random stranger could do. Why would that be, for anyone who did not know the person, their tragedy? I know that I am on the end of the range in terms of how I see death including suicide - and I agree for the people who knew and loved the person - they certainly have a loss (but I don't see death by suicide as different from any other death - I don't find it more or less tragic as a concept). I don't see the point of random strangers going whole John Donne bell tolling over it. __________________ Please NO @ Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. I was on my way to a therapy session with Rob back in maybe 2017/2018. I was 30 mins late to the session, arriving with 20 mins of it left because they had closed the Victoria line for that same reason. People on the train and platform complained about the delay.
Most people only care more if it affects them personally which goes for most things. Edit: Perhaps concern would have been a better word. __________________ Last edited by Lemoncake; Nov 04, 2024 at 01:43 PM.. |

Not to minimize the topic, but I was going to post this link for Art previously. Just easy, recipes using with 10 ingredients or less.

Assuming you'll also be having decent (and unseasonably warm) weather this week, at least outside activities could be an option with the kid. Hope you're able to get some sleep tonight.. |

Actually my point was not about caring one way or the other.
I think over reaction on the part of those who are not part of the tragedy is wrong. Of course one would do something if there is something to do that would help but, as most times there is nothing outsiders can do that will actually help the tragedy, I find it to be an overstepping sense of entitlement and even emotional indulgence to glom on to a tragedy that is not yours. I actually find it disrespectful to those that are part of the tragedy and it seems to me to be a giant self -indulgence on the part of the outsider to try and claim a piece of it. (I am not talking about going to a different restaurant which to me seems a response that would make sense on several levels) Again I ask what could others have done that would make an actual difference. If nothing - then going on about their lives is the only rational response as far as I can see. __________________ Please NO @ Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. It sounds like it was a rough night, and you’ve got a long week ahead with that closure. It does seem like a good time to take some space and stay with your sister to reset for a bit. It's good you're tackling the wall before it gets worse. Maybe you could encourage her to make a house with playing cards. Given her age that might take her a while to get them to stand. If you have the space let her make a den and hopefully fall asleep reading to herself inside. __________________ |

RC checked in with me about an hour ago.
I retract the harsh words I shared before. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

Holy cats,
Explaining all this to R is going to take some doing. Because I found The Grievery over the summer, I didn't tell her about it. I want to talk about what happened, but I don't know how to explain that I'm also attending those sessions. Today has been a day, so the Couch Workout Club will resume tomorrow. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

It's election day in the US. The nerves are jangling. I wonder if we're going to get our first woman president?

My nerves are jangling away, too. And I doubt there will be a clear winner tonight. Possibly tomorrow? Though if it's as close as polls are suggesting, it could come down to recounts. Sigh... |
