... And so Precious Moments become part of the couch's collective unconscious. Who remembers the shelves of Precious Moments? One of us, all of us ... we are the precious moments.

Couch Workout Club day 19
Two sets of core workout exercises before I got sidetracked trying to find my mini dumbbells, and then discovered that they're currently holding something up. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

a mockery of unrecirculated air. Um, not sure what that last phrase means! But pretty sure its not good. I had gnocchi dreams last night, which were definitely a change from the usual. Altho im pretty sure i was back at work, trying to hand in my time sheet. Also joined Cats with jobs on facebook, where you suggest what job the cat has. Fun! |

My dreams last night involved going to a very bad concert of a band I like with my new iPhone, and I kept not being able to get it to work. I did actually get a new phone yesterday, as my iPhone SE from 2020 seemed to have become incapable of handling calls. Which was fun when I was trying to talk to Verizon on it about an issue with my order, running through the house going "I'm here! Can you hear me?" I ended up having to use my H's phone. I'm having to learn to cope without a physical home button--yeah, I'm a bit old-school as far as phones go. Though I did feel a sense of superiority, as I assumed Dr. T had a pretty recent model--he checked yesterday, and his is an 11. I now have a 15 (was going to do the 14, but due to a deal Verizon had, the 15 cost the same, so why not?) |

Sounds like the turtles in my campus’s turtle pond, climbing up each other to get as close as possible to the sun. Eventually the whole stack slips and falls into the water.

On precious moments…my mother in law also has a huge glass doubled door case filled with them. She also has precious moments decorative plates hanging on her walls. At Christmas time her entire tree is decorated with nothing but old precious moments ornaments. There is actually a good bit of money wrapped up in those things. My mother in law is in her 80’s and her collection stems back to when they first were sold in stores in 1978 or 1979…so all hers are the original collection.

Couch Workout Club day 20
Logged 5,000 steps thanks to my Sunday walk in the park and walking around a supermarket. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

High school English teacher here. (Starting year 40! Woohoo!)
I find the strongest students prefer hard copies. They are attuned to their learning styles and want the ability to physically highlight, annotate, sticky note, etc. They also are aware that they get off task with technology in their hands. I provide electronic links to everything so they have the option to use technology, but honestly, most don’t. |

I was that kind of student when at school and university.
It's definitely easier in some ways to be hands-on with the information. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

That's really interesting. It does make sense to me. I figured it was just because I was old-school, but I also prefer reading physical books to reading on a Kindle, in part so I can highlight and make little notes. I know you can in a Kindle, too, but it's not the same. With my own writing, perhaps because I was originally trained this way as an editor, ages ago, I also find it helps to print out drafts and mark those up (though I'll do some editing on screen, too). My actual work is all online, and the only time I print something out is if I have to do, say, a really complex reference renumbering (journal articles). But I imagine I still miss more things online vs. if I'd printed it out (don't want to kill that many trees though!) ETA: And yes, the getting off task aspect is an issue for me, too. I'll need to look up something--say, a references is missing page nos. Then it's like, "While I'm here, let me check my email, oh, and maybe Facebook, and...." |

Electronic books make highlighting less of a moral quandary to me.
Taking a pencil or something to a book will always feel like a form of criminal damage. A friend offered to send me a copy of a book, and I explained my highlighter situation. 'You're gonna study, aren't you?' Yeah, I probably am. One of my favourite lines in the last book I loved was 'Study is secular worship.' That really resonates with me. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

I’m happy, the leaves are falling and starting to get crunchy on the floor. I have been done with summer since early July. I need the rain and the colder temperatures.

Your the doctor!
Yes it looks like it will be cool from here on out. Today is still horribly humid but should be better tomorrow. Eta - you are really right. I was just browsing my prime video menu, and i couldve sworn a show title was "Chicken Detective". It was Citizen, not Chicken. Gotta say, chicken sounds more intriguing!
