Yikes, Artie.

That's an awful dream.

I went out for dinner with some friends a few years ago to a local Italian restaurant.
Several members of our party are wheelchair users.
The meal was unremarkable, but what happened at the end of the evening was ridiculous.

As soon as we had paid, we pretty much got chucked out.

They started clearing the table and told us to wait for our transport outside.

Nothing negative had happened, as far as I could tell.

Really strange.

My MIL's surgery went okay? I'm not sure why, but she needs a blood transfusion. It might not even be because of the surgery. She wasn't in good health beforehand. She's desperate for PT to hurry up and get home. She misses her dogs so much. I'm glad we haven't given them up yet. H and I have been going everyday to feed them and clean up after them. But the 2 hrs round trip drive is a lot for us. His mom got paperwork about the humane society taking and boarding your dogs for 10 days? We're going to look into that. The chihuahua rescue won't take in unadoptable dogs, and the humane society said if unadoptable dogs are surrendered, they will be put down. We're trying to help her keep them.

Who says the dogs are unadoptable?

Surely they have to assess these things before they make a decision?

Hire a trainer.

If the dogs have bitten anyone or appear aggressive - the owner needs to report such - it is not fair to anyone to send a dog with known biting tendencies into a home where a child or the dog could be hurt or worse. It is not just for the protection of the human but the dog as well. As soon as a dog is reported to be a biter - that can mean the end. I am not against humane euthanasia for pets or humans for that matter but I would do it privately with the best vet I could find rather than leave them to the frightening surroundings of a kill shelter. But I would first try a trainer or even more than one.

I'm not sure hiring a trainer is an option right now. I don't want to put the dogs down period. And I'm not going to be the one who calls. She has to be. But I agree, SD. If it has to happen, it should not be in a shelter. It should be private and with good people (preferably the owner). I hate that some owners won't stay for it and the dog is alone and scared.

Thanks, SD.

I understand the implications now, I just wasn't firing on all cylinders when I made my initial comment.
