And that is not normal behavior for me. He is having surgery on Monday. The same kind of surgery I had 4 years ago. She doesn't even see this client in person and I have had a lot of her attention recently with my own stuff. We are meeting on Monday.
So I don't get what my issue is. I was fine during the session. I just was kinda shut down but I think she probably thought I was just tired. This has never happened where I've gotten like jealous of another client of hers. I did just start a new med yesterday, so idk if its just a side effect that will go away. But it was a weird feeling __________________ I'm Blue |

How were you made aware of this other client and their upcoming surgery? Did your therapist share detailed health information about another client with you?? If so, that's extremely unprofessional and concerning.

I agree that this is concerning. Mine will comment on other clients, but doesn't (generally) include any sort of identifying details. It still bothers me at times. In this case, although no name was given (I hope!), your T is sharing personal medical information about a client. It makes sense you'd react in some way to it. |

That is not okay. 1) He probably wouldn't be super excited to hear his therapist is telling other clients about what's going on with him, even if it were anonymous. 2) Who knows if she's doing the same with you. And 3) There's this result of a feeling of jealous for a client (you in this case). Of course you're going to be jealous, you're paying to talk to someone for a limited amount of time periodically and they're talking about someone else they work with?
The closest to this situation I had was my therapist saying "someone called the emergency line saying 'it's hot out...' I didn't know what to do with that." (There was context/it was related to a discussion), and then there are those "another client dealt with something similar by doing x" moments. I don't really know what to tell you, but if that happens again, say something. If it still bothers you next time you see her, tell her. __________________ [Insert thought-provoking and comedic quote here] |
