Hello, I hope it’s appropriate to post something like this here. I experienced pretty harmful therapy several years ago and am currently struggling with feelings that are resurfacing towards a mentor-like figure. I know it stems from attachment trauma to my former therapist and I don’t really know where else to share it. I wish I could feel attached to my current therapist because it would make it easier to work through these things, but I don’t. I was wondering if anyone would be open to talking to me over direct message.

Hi @purpleobsidian welcome to MSF - I am sorry to hear you are feeling down. That sounds pretty rough.

Since MSF is a site where people get to know each other by posting the stories about what they are going through, you may get a better response by posting some things in the Psychotherapy and or Depression Forums and you may find others with similar feelings.

You are free to message me, including about anything you do not feel comfortable sharing in the forums. Click on CANDC to the left of this post and on Send a Private message to CANDC if you care to message me.

Hope you get the support you are looking for.

CANDC

Hi there. I have experienced harmful therapy and an unethical ending. I am happy for you to PM me if you would find it useful to talk things through.

Thanks, all. I really appreciate the offers of support. Since I’m a new member, I don’t think I’m able to chat anyone until 5 of my posts are approved. Here is my second post. I’ll send a message once I’m approved to do so.
