My T has told me she has a friend that saw a therapist who used to not do face to face things, and always do the "Freudian" type approach of sitting kind of behind/to the side. The patient has always wondered if he was paying attention/sleeping. One day, he started snoring. She walked out and told the receptionist she better wake him for the next patient.

My T has never fallen asleep. I have seen her tired/yawning, but never to the point that I really worried that I may lose her sleepy-by land.

No way...T is always very alert. I can almost understand the seeming groggy part maybe on very rare occasions, but falling asleep is absolutely unacceptable.

We can't hold T's to higher standards then we hold everyone else in this regard. T's are human, and get tired like the rest of us. Long days, hard night, rain, they have a hard job, it's to be expected! Has Your T or Psychiatrist ever fallen asleep during a Session?

Fallen asleep, no. Seemed tired, well not really...

Except Mondays. I forgive everyone for their behaviours on Mondays, since Mondays suck. lol

My T fights it at times, he has a sleep disorder and his eyelids close sometimes but he at least tries like heck not to fall asleep, he puts one foot on the desk, it is quite the site. I heard him once after his client left, before me, in the bathroom, splashing water on his face, or at least that is what I imagine he did. His hair was wet. lol

I know T's shouldn't fall asleep, but I am sure some clients are so monotone and flat, I would have trouble I think. lol

Before I told me of his sleeping disorder, I remember seeing him nod off, and I said Hey, Doc!!!!! You sleeping???????? (very loud) lol He flinched and about fell off his chair! But he said he just got in the night before and his flight was delayed, so it was really late. Add that to his sleeping disorder, I am surprised he could do anything that day. I told him I wasn't insulted because he told me the truth, and hey, he is only human. (i hate that phrase, but it fits)

I used to have a psychiatrist that would yawn and examine the patterns on his tie while I was talking. I know people who saw the same psychiatrist and they reported the same behavior, so at least it wasn't only me who was boring the hell outta him.

My T has never falling asleep, but is occasionally groggy for which she always apologizes.

out of 4 t's i did have a tendancy to make the first 3 come *very* close to falling asleep - head bobbing, yawning. They said it was only with me this happened.... =( and usually when i dissociated.
Current t is quite lively and i haven't yet dissociated with her. only one late night was she starting to sink into tiredness.

I've seen him tired. I'm usually the last appt of the night. He's human so I expect some of that.

But falling asleep? I'd probably lay down on the couch too and go to sleep with him in the room Has Your T or Psychiatrist ever fallen asleep during a Session? Very therapeutic I think!

My T in college fell asleep. I glanced over and saw him dozing and was trying to figure out how to wake him up but he woke himself up. No wonder I didn't get anywhere with him.

no, never. If any T is close to falling asleep when your there i would run away fast. they are supposed to give you their 100 percent undivided attention. Now, i'm not saying they may not be tired, my T has been tired and said upfront, "i'm not feeling well, or i'm a little tired today so i'm sorry if i don't seem to talk much" but that's about it. falling asleep?? don't waste your money.

No, not yet. Mine knows that if he did that there would be a timer and a hippo missing when he woke up, LOL. So, he has an incentive to stay awake other than my ever so fascinating tales of woe.
