That depends on how much you need someone. Like how much I need T? Well, now, that's just downright pathological, isn't it?

It's ok to need someone. But not need them so much it interferes greatly with your functioning if you cannot have them. Codependency sucks, sorry.

Not more than you need yourself. That's "unbalanced". You can't give (needing someone else is giving yourself and your energy/"power" to them) more than you retain or you'll fall over :-)

Of course, if you're met with the same from the other person, then that's a team and you've got a partnership and you're fine until one or the other "leaves" and that's where grief enters into the equation. You have yourself invested in the other and have to slowly get it back so you can reinvest in someone(s)/something(s) else.

I like the concept of "balanced" needing. Can't figure out how to accomplish it; but I like the idea.

Jello, sorry you are feeling unbalanced today.

I say these answers are too complicated. The question was so simple......YES, of course it's ok to need someone. We all need someone. Most of us need more than one someone.

Tulips,
I like your answer. I don't need more than one someone, though, it's more like more of some one. You know? I truly love my family. But the father figure is the part that's never been filled, the part that feels like T fills. (Although he denies that this happens, LOL)

No one person can be all you need. But you do need someone too fill that paternal role I guess.
