She said "We'll work something out." but I have been over and over my finances and i don't think I can find a way to work it out.

I accidentally paid my car payment online twice this month that started a chain of events ending in my being overdrawn $450.00. Now I am behind payment to T for 2 sessions and see her tomorrow which I can't pay for until I get paid Friday. I have worked and re-worked the numbers in my budget and I can't find a way to get caught up and stay caught up.

I'm going to work extra hours; we are permitted 3 extra hours per week. I don't know where to look for a part-time job, or if I can do it after a full day of work. I work 9 hour days.

I don't know what to do.I don't want to quit. I don't want to leave her or her leave me. I think I would die of heartbreak.

How often do you see her? Could you handle every other week for a while? I'd even think about 1/2 hour sessions if she could do it. Maybe 15 minute phone sessions too. It's not enough, I know, but it will at least keep you connected until you can bounce back. I did that for a while with my T and it worked out good.

But if you couldn't afford the whole bag of M&M's wouldn't a few of them be okay until you could buy some more? I think I have to quit therapy

T will help you. She'll fix it, you'll see.

that is true she will help you to work out a strtegy to fix it and it is rediculous to work afer nine hour days as you just want to relax would your bank be able to help you consolidate you debts into more managable repayments.

That sounds like a really stressful situation. I was wondering, it seems the cause of all this was that you paid double your car payment. Doesn't that mean that you'll have one month where you won't have a car payment? I know with many loans, if you pay more than the monthly amount, they move your next payment due date foward.

Lemon, yes, good thought, but after paying $450 in overdraft charges, not having to pay the car payment this month won't help so much.

Just had a thought. Do you have anything you could sell on eBay? People will buy just about anything! I think I have to quit therapy

I had a bunch (dozens) of handkerchiefs that my grandmother crocheted around the edges. I sold most of them to an antique shop!

I have felt the heartbreak of stopping therapy. Your therapist takes a peice of your heart with them.

Okay. Now, we need to keep our heads straight and brainstorm the hell outta this problem.

Didn't you say you used to tutor students? I think you should immediately make up a flyer for summer tutoring, and plaster it all around the neighborhood, supermarket, library, etc.

How about a weekend job at the mall? I know it would be awful, but you might be able to hack it until you catch up on your payments.

Also, don't underestimate babysitting. I know it's not always fun, but mothers need help!!

You are such a talented writer and reader. Is there a market for some editing perhaps?

I'm not sure. Let me know how to help you.

Peace

I think the best thing to do is to be honest about the situation. To say that you can't see how you can sort it out... Unless you work more hours, and you aren't sure that would be the best move etc. Maybe something can be worked out... Hang in there. I have my fingers crossed for you.

ECHOES, I am so sorry about the snafu with your car payment. Were you paying online? It is so easy to click that button twice.

Seeing T will be helpful--I'm sure her presence will be comforting--and together you can brainstorm for solutions to this problem. I know it would be hard not to see your T every week, but maybe you can see her less frequently until you get caught up on all your bills.

Echoes,
Can you contact your bank and tell them about your mistake and contact your car loan company and also explain the situation to them? It may or may not work, but it is worth the effort.

I know it seems you won't catch up, but I'm sure you and T can think of something! There are also some good ideas from other people who have replied. I know you will get through this! Just hang in there

Echoes, I'm optimistic that you and your T will come up with something, but here's a possibility just in case...
In my county the social services/adult mental health department has discretionary funds that can be used for situations like this. Maybe your county has a similar program? I don't know if there are requirements or criteria but it might be worth a shot.

((((((((((( everybody ))))))))))))

Thank you for all of your good wishes, crossed fingers, and great ideas.

My session was tonight, not last night as I posted. I was so distressed I had the days mixed up. T isn't going anywhere and neither am I. I think I have to quit therapy She is fine with carrying a balance as long as it doesn't get too large to where I couldn't manage it. She's fine with me taking time off if that's what I'd like to do (NO!!). So I am going to pay and extra $20/session when I get back to paying in a few weeks. It will take months to pay the balance off, but she's okay with that. Of course, I will pay it sooner if possible.

I'm putting in extra hours at work and looking for something part time that won't get negated by the price of gas. . I'm going to call some creditors and see about making payment arrangements with them too, to stretch things out a bit. I'm going to call and ask the car loan people to take the July payment and tack it on the back end of the loan.

The session was all about money, what it means to me, how I feel when I have it, don't have it, spend it, save it, how I feel about others who have more--money and things (like a house--I lost mine and have never gotten over it), etc. About the many things that went into this financial crisis. We explored it a lot. How I had been working hard to reach a goal of being more financially secure by the end of May and how I ended up in a disaster. Self-sabotage?.... Because?
It was a good session.

And I am sooooooooooo relieved. Whew!

Thanks friends!! I think I have to quit therapy
