(big title, but I couldn't figure out what I wanted to say )

I had my first counselling group today. Okay, technically yesterday now - but Thursday.

I dunno. It was a bit odd. I seem to be the only "talkative" person in the group. Not to mention, I'm also the only person who isn't there because they feel they have anxiety and social problems. (Not to say I don't have anxiety and social issues - but it isn't always apparent in my personality since I'm an "ambivert"). I'm a "veteran" of the group experience now, because I've been in this same group (various times, with different people) for 3 or 4 times now.

So I feel old... and a bit out of place.

Also because... and maybe this is just me ... is it people's experiences that "co-ed" groups of this sort are mostly women, with fewer men? I've noticed that in previous groups...

But I guess I'm on the other "side" now though, because I'm one of only TWO women, in a group of seven or 8! (And the other woman helps to run the group - not a participant like myself).

Totally awkward. I don't know how this is going to work out for me...

We shall see. I just feel ... a bit "out of place" in this experience. I hate that feeling.

I'm in a one-gender group. Most of the people there, it seems to me, have accepted their "illness" and do not really see that any real improvement is to be expected. I think that is a result of how they have been treated by the "system". No one -- or at least few -- expects anything else. And I think that is a reasonable expectation, considering...

Christina, I think that you will discover something very interesting about yourself if you continue to investigate this...... Everything that I ever figured out about myself came out of observing myself when in a group (not a formal group like this, just a group of people).
