I'm asking for help. Brownie points for me, right? (I HATE asking for help, don't feel I deserve it at all...)

I'm thinking I need to make an appt with a counsellor (my first one, ironically) to have "abuse counselling" because ... lets face it, Christina isn't going to deal with past "stuff" unless she does this.

Unfortunately I'm veryyyyyyyyy good at procrastinating from doing uncomfortable stuff. Oh, and this is making me totally queasily uncomfortable.

So I need help. Someone care to kick me until I book this appointment?

Pretty please? I'm giving myself until Friday to make the call.

And simultaneously avoiding counselling with my "current therapist" because she irks me ... not because she's "right" but because there is only SO many times one can be asked "HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT?" before you feel like snapping.

So... volunteers?

Would you like me to periodically throughout the day tomorrow until you make the appointment?

Can you do that??? Or is there a HEAD BASHING smiley that you can do instead?

I have no problem with other appts... I just dont wanna do this one. Besides I have to go through a receptionist first. Which bugs me soooooooooo much.

Absolutely. I hate talking to receptionists, too. I'll let you procrastinate tonight and poke you in the morning

Okay, Christina, PM me after you make the appointment and then I'll send you a hug.

Actually, I don't think I understand why you need another counselor, unless you are deciding to switch from one to another. But some places seem to make more of a distinction than we do here between a counselor and a therapist. I'm really trying hard not to ask you how you feel about that.

Hi Christina, going thru the receptionist can be irritating, is that one of the main reasons that you are procrastinating or are you afraid to face the contents of the session that you are going to take on. I am sure its both. I hope you can sustain the energy till you meet this councellor and i hope that your meeting with this person is good. I presume that he specializes in the field that you want to focus on
Good luck

Ouch. Withholding hugs!

I'm realllllllllly wanting to ditch the current woman (who really doesn't seem to help, although she tries) for this other person.

I use "counsellor" since that's what I was 'brought up' using as the terminology... but as far as I'm aware, counsellor=therapist.

Ok. I just woke up. Have class soon, so I'll probably think about doing it after class. Need to make a vet appt though, and I think thats more important for the rug-rats.

Aww. You caught me! Bravo.

Alright. I really will try to make it today, but it might not happen until tomorrow. I feel sick and I'm tired and busy. And my vet appt really does come first. So does the overdue assignment of mine.

I made the call!!

It took forever to find the number (it wasn't in the Yellow Pages, ANYWHERE, weird) ... but then I called...

and...

NOBODY PICKED UP.

AT 2:30PM FREAKING BLARGH.

So I left a polite message and apparently an "intake person" will call me back eventually... they didn't say *when*.

Sigh. Stupid process.

((((((((earthmama))))))))))) how did you know I'm usually winding up playing phone tag and eventually give up?!

((((((((((cantstopcrying)))))))))))) You might need to nag me again then in a few days if I don't hear anything. You did a great job nagging too

So I just had my "intake phone interview".

Did I mention that I lied to the MAN on the other end of the line?

Yeah. I was totally not telling him the reason for me wanting counselling was for ABUSE. For fear that he asks for details. I'm paranoid. So he got the "eating disorders and depression" answer, which is true ... just not the WHOLE truth.

I know the therapist will be fine with it (I've been a client of hers a few yrs ago) but there was no way I was telling this guy.

Oh and he made the most politically incorrect comment about my comment when he asked about my "relationship status" ... I said single, I was too young (at 22) to be married yet. I'm not going to repeat the comment he made. It was at least uncalled for, when examining another cultures relationship norms.

She (therapist) apparently works tonight and will call me back tonight. If she gets me early, she'll get to talk to me. Otherwise, I'll phone her tomorrow (I'm hosting a very large housewarming party tonight).

Blah. I was worrying for nothing.

Isn't the saying something like "99% of what we worry about never happens?" I hope she gets a hold of you, thank you for updating us.
