I was told by my psychistrist and therapist that journaling would help with my anxiety and depression. I've started writing in a journal but would rather type in an online one. I'm considering my own blog but most of my entries would probably be about anxiety and depression but hoping that I would also find the desire to write about other issues probably not even related to psychiatric troubles. I thought maybe it would help deal with anxiety. I just really hate to write and thought typing into an on-line journal or blog would be the way to go. Any suggestions of a website or blog? Thanks.

I tried through the personal blog we can create here at pc, but I like the feel of paper in my hands so I was a blog-flunky!

yes, I am using a special place to write out my experience overcoming a serious illness. From the start, I began this and it helped me so much to communicate to others (and in doing so, inform myself) what I am thinking and feeling, and I can gauge some progress this way.
I have also received feedback and unbelievable support along this path, and one day, when I'm all clear, I will read it all again, from beginning to end... and see what my journey was, so that I remember all the remarkable aspects ~ where a negative turns positive, and reaching out brought more back ... I'm sure I'll discover lessons and things about myself I don't quite see yet, so I think this journalling has been a definite positive benefit for me... priceless even, I'd venture to say. I have tried blogging but I only occasionally update mine, I like the blog system here, if you go to the blogs tab, the one on the second line of the bar on the top of the page, a drop menu should appear and there is a choice to start your own blog. The system here is run through wordpress so if you want a place different from this site, I would try either there or myspace which also has a blogging system. There are many sites for these kind of things but those are the sites that I have used.

I have an on-line journal at another website, bodies under siege, which conceptually is like PC only dedicated to self harm. It's in a private forum that only members can see.
It's funny when I started therapy I swore I would never journal, but I started the on-line one in 03. I go in fits and starts about how regularly I write. But it's interesting to look back and compare where I am now to where I was then, particularly in respect to my drinking. I also like that it's interactive and other people can post replies and leave feedback. I also feel typing is just more comfortable for me than writing with a pen and paper - besides my handwritting's lousy. --splitimage |

I use both. Online and written. I also have an art journal, a large sketchbook.
Often my blog facilitates working through feelings. My written journal is more often than not a record for myself of my journey and my feelings and experiences. |

What a great question!!!!
Journaling is the key to what one wishes their world was..and what it is...and what it is becoming...... Putting it all out on paper frees one's mind to then tackle other things..getting it...out there... I should know I have a very rich intense inner life.. I use livejournal.com yet I keep it all _private_ do not make 'friends..' on that website as that way I can truly write gut wrenching things from the heart and/or inner life... It lets you decorate with avatars, pictures, and beautiful backgrounds which helps me as I am very visual....

There's a kind of dynamic when you think someone might be reading your journal. It brought out more creativity in me. Of course, I had to be certain that I was 100% anonymous.
Here's a tip: Be sure to copy your entries into a folder on your computer in case, for whatever reason, the blog gets erased. |

Yep, I do all the time.
This is my PC Blog: http://mirla.psychcentral.net/ I occationaly use it whenever I'm feeling deep and brooding and need to vent Other times I use my Live Journal or Myspace But those are for people I know offline to chat with So it's a secret to you guys, sorry! |

I have both online blogs, private and public, and paper and pencil work I do. If you don't like writing things out in a journal, maybe start with an interesting workbook or program and go from there. I got journaling 10+ years ago using Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way.
