Just got back from the first part of my psych testing. This one was the long questionnaire, drawing pictures, making up stories about pics they showed me and the infamous inkblots. Anyone else go through these? How did you feel afterward?

No, I haven't done this kind of testing. I did a kind of a survey kind of test once and now I can't remember what it was called. I think I felt a bit exposed afterward, after answering so many questions as honestly as I could. I think I worried how my anwers would be interpretted, too.

How do you feel about the tests, and how are you feeling now that it's over?

I have taken SEVERAL different neuropsychological/psychological tests to determine cognitive disorders and absence/presence of learning disabilities.

I have also taken the MMPI-2 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personal Inventory-2), which is different than the others and is for specific diagnostic questions concerning personality for assessment of mental health problems.

I felt perfectly fine afterwards. I was relieved to be done with all of them though, as they were rather annoying and time consuming. Tests by themselves mean nothing without a psychologist who can interpret the test results and then integrate the data with his personal assessment of functioning.

Who conducted your testing, and what was the testing purposes?

i used to work on a neuropsych ward, where we did these all the time. it was common for patients to feel drained/tired afterwards - it was a four hour block, and pretty intense!!

how are you feeling, CR?

i have had lots of those, and i can remember, while is was doing them, being scared and analytical of my own answers, and whether they would indicate that i have a major, very rare, untreatable disorder. i can remember the first t, who did these tests, told me that my profile is similar to that of a psychopath!!! that really upset and scared me for a long time, even still now! (almost 20 years later!) with my pdoc we still use these results, relating to my personality, and how to get more balance between the different aspects. i don't like that - it scares me to think that i am so unbalanced. my profile, according to a the David Keirsey test is estp.
