I had an old therapist call me out of the blue tonight. She called to ask if I would be interested in a new group she was starting. I have not been her patiant in awhile. It struck me as odd. My question is has anyone else had this happen to them. It was unsettling to me that she called like that.

strange yes - but if you think it would be of benefit to you - I would go for it!

I think it depends on why you left this old T. If you had a great relationship than maybe it would be good. On the other hand, my first thought was she was trying to drum up business.

Yeah that's what I though.

But if you liked her and think it will help - then yeah why not

Thanks all for your thoughts.
I did not connect well with this therapist so I broke it off. No new one since then. I been thinking about going to it a few times just to see what it will be like. I never done a group therapy setting. No clue about them. I've always done one on one. Thanks again for thoughts.

I was seeing a T for a while for meditation instruction and when she was offering a new support group or class, it seemed like she would open it up to all of her current and former clients. Maybe that's what your T is doing...

Do you think you might do the group??

EM,

I think I might go. Thanks for the thought about her oppening the group to all clients. I had not thought of that. I just through her calling like that when I have not been her client for awhile was strange ,like I said.
Thanks for the food for thought.

EM,
The group is an womens only group and the topics will be on various womens issues. The women in the group decide which topic to talk about. That what the therapist said today when I talked to her again. I decided to go and check it out. Nervous about it.Anxiety going up . Way up!
