I finished a partial hospital about 10 days ago--a week ago Friday. It went very well, I improved greatly felt better than I had in years.

I was referred to the hospital's day treatment program, but my insurance is Medicare which won't cover hospital-based day treatment programs. They cover independent clinics, but for reasons previously specified that hasn't been a fruitful process.

You can file for payment assistance for that hospital system. Good for one year it will pay/help pay for medical care. It's a very simple one page form.

The problem is they say it can take up to 30 days to process and I need treatment now. They don't have a clinical track to go with the financial processing, i.e. they don't inquire about or require physician's requests for getting the assistance. This also means they don't distinguish between someone needing help now vs. someone not needing/wanting now.

MH program staff doesn't know much about payment assistance but that it exists. Assistance staff doesn’t know anything about taking into consideration timeliness and prioritizing. No one in the hospital can help me on this. I can't believe I'm the only one who has this issue.

If I enrolled right now, I'd be responsible for all costs unless assistance became available in the future.

Can't pay, can't get treatment. Need it now.

Is anyone familiar with these types of health company assistance programs and how they work? I don't know what to do next.

I'm getting into very dark territory. I was up for 36 hours Sun/Mon; barely sleep. Obsess like crazy feel very sui again. The 3 weeks of partial appear wasted.

sweetie, you know i nothing about the crazy system over in the US.

the only thing i could suggest is to fill out the form + send it in anyway. most bureaucracies state an upper limit for timeliness, but the forms could be processed much faster. where i work, we say 30 days, but most stuff gets processed in 2-3 days.

hopefully someone else will have a better suggestion, but it could be the fall back plan should nothing else eventuate?

Can you fill out the form, and while you are waiting for it to be approved, go to therapy with your T, so you can get some support during the interim? Maybe you could see him more frequently than usual during this difficult time.

I'm sorry the system is so dysfunctional and that you are caught in the middle.

Thanks Deli, but: Is eventuate a word?

Failed to mention that I submitted the form last Fri. I should've filled it out 3 weeks ago when I was having problems about the cost of partial, but I didn't. In my depression, I can barely activate myself. Hope you’re right deli about the policy of turnaround vs. what really happens.

Yes, talking to my T--but he's in NYC. I went to a place where T's do pro-bono work a few hours each day and saw someone right away. She helped me get info on other day treatment options; none panned out. See her again on Wed. Have a lame pdoc. I need more immediate and more invovled time-wise treatment than I can get now.

I've called a guy I knew in partial twice since ending. Once soon after b/c he'd told how bad off is, then called for my own benefit on Sun. but had to leave a message. I feel so alone with this.

oh, sweetie.

if you are asking me: Is 'eventuate' a word?
then why, yes it is~

Quote:
eventuate verb
[no obj.] (formal) occur as a result: you never know what might eventuate.
• (eventuate in) lead to as a result: circumstances that eventuate in crime.
- DERIVATIVES eventuation noun .
- ORIGIN late 18th cent. (originally US): from event, on the pattern of actuate.
however, if you are asking me: Is eventuate a word?
then i'm afraid i don't understand what you mean.

Ah, but I made "airquotes" in my mind around "eventuate" when I typed "Is eventuate a word?"

But thanks for doing the dirty work in looking it up for the benefit of all who enter here.
