where i live most of the people tend to be nosey.it's like that all over the stl area.i am forced to take public transportation due to epilepsy and no family support.well the people on the train, bus, baseball games, apartment building, epilepsy group are nosey to me and i'm tired of dealing with it on a daily basis.they ask me questions like do i have a job,how much money i have etc.those questions are coming mostly from total strangers all over town.plus if i'm talking to someone people butt in our conversation.none of those people asking me these questions are my friends nor do i want to be friends with them.i have been called a snob by a few people.because at times i tell people to stay out of my business.also i don't want to be friends with most of the people i see at these epilepsy groups.they tend to be nosey to.i am friends with one person from the epilepsy group.but she do's not get in my business and do's not act like the others.i was friends in the past with some other people from the eplepsy group and they where nosey, pushy, rude, talked behind me back and other's back's.so i told them i no longer wanted to be their friend and they started yelling at me.they called me a snob for no longer wanting to be their friend.how do i get people to stop being so damn nosey?i ignore them and even have my ipod on and some still bug me.i have even walked away from people and as i'm walking away the person still was talking to me.

Most people are curious about others and want to find out if they are potential friends, etc.

I would have a teeshirt made that said something along the lines of

Ipod in the ear
Then I don't want to hear
What you have to say
So just stay away!

well the questions that they ask are rude.like how much money i have.yes i have been asked that by people i don't know.the nosey ones are not the type of people i want to be friends with.plus real friendships take time and i'm not gonna answer personal questions strangers ask me.

When people ask me questions I don't want to answer I make up something. Like when they ask how much money I make I say, not nearly as much as I am worth.

Cool repsponse Yoda..hehehe...

UCLAfan,

This is really sticking in your craw isn't it? Don't blame you though...just because you have epilepsy doesn't make you incapable.

You should tell them outright not to be nosey, and ask them why is it they need to know? bet they would be gobsmacked at that as they should be

Being an epileptic myself I know how it feels. At times I'm treated like I can't understand english or am deaf with people almost shouting into my face. I've also had people put their hand on my shoulders to make sure I am looking directly at them. I used to have a lot of absence siezures that only lasted for 30 seconds or less and I was accused of being a daydreamer
or of not listening to people...I got tired of telling people I was epileptic and just let them do their thing...made em look rather stupid and I got a few giggles out of it.

Hadn't had a seizure for over 8 months until yesterday...but I forgot meds 2 days running so something was going to happen at some time...

Yes I agree with you...I lived in a very small village and so it was everyones business, and I did have GM sz's and I think that scared people at the time considering it was before they knew about the other types of sz's including the absence kind...growing up in a small village wasn't fun...

Decades ago, the response would be to ask why they needed to know and if they are writing a book.
