When the ppl you care for are going through a very tough time the only thing you want to do for them is to take away their pain and be there for them in any way possible. Thats just not the case with my bf of a year and a half. How he deals with his stress is to simply block things out and shut down. He turns to his pc games to distract himself and that includes hours on end of play time and the earliest he'll go to bed is 2am. Every part of me wants to be there for him but how I know to give support to people isn't something he wants.
When he shuts out the world I begin to feel very lonely and rejected because I simply don't know how to help him and when I do he's not there to accept or he'll take it the wrong way. I become frustrated and he begins to feel the same and next thing we know we're fighting and all I want to do is leave and get away. How do you deal with such a situation? He wants to be left alone but I feel shut out of is world. He's miserable with his own personal problems and I'm left to deal with the aftermath. Is that fair for me? |

If you love him learn to understand him and let him process his own way until he is ready to change it. He'll eventually learn that things are not working the way he is dealing with them and then he will start things himself.
There's no point getting into an argument (which you know will happen), because you feel lonely. Something happens to some people when they get into reationships; They say they love the person they're with, then they try to change that person. Learn to deal with things the way they are and concentrate and develop your own coping tools & stratgies go to therapy if you need to who knows you may even learn some tips there on how to deal with the situtaion? Also have you thought that he may be avoidant personality and addicted to computer games? Megan
