To me it seems pretty hopeless, especially when i asked another friend of mine in the way i worded it, without adding names i added our highest problem...

So I'm wondering what everyone here thinks... Could a codependency (98%) person have a healthy friendship with an emotionally disturbed (99%)person?

And if you think so, how would we go about getting more in the healthy realm of friendship?

hi lexi. i would like to think it is possible. it may be that you and your emotionally disturbed friend need to be more intentional about the relationship... for instance, maybe you limit your hang out times to a few hours a week, or you have an agreed upon cue so that when one of you is reaching your limit, you know when to back off (one of my friends uses the word "coconut!" and her girlfriends know when to give her a minute). even in the most perfect of circumstances, all relationships, at some point, require WORK. even if you are your own best friend, it can still be WORK!!! (am i the only one who gets on my own nerves?!?! ha ha). best of luck!
Thanks for this!
