All these online friends who I love to IM, how they irritate me so. I love them, or at least one, but.. man.. I'm usually a patient person, could be very calm, understanding, and enjoyable.. but my attitude changes depending on how I'm treated in return. Recently my patience is being tested by two people who take HOURS AND HOURS to respond to an IM. Usually as I'm sure you know people will say 'brb' or 'afk' or 'I have to go do such and such, I'll be back on later' and they log out. But nope, these two wonderful people will just abandon me in the middle of a conversation, sometimes leave me hanging for over 3 hours, waiting for a response to a simple freaking statement.
Why? How much effort does it take to just say good bye and log off. I had people who would say "I'm going to go shopping/play video games/nap/study/whatever now, I hope you don't mind" and I would say "Of course, go right ahead, I don't mind at all." They would leave, not come back for 6 hours or the next day and I would be perfectly as cheerful and bubbly as before because they were considerate and let me know. When people just leave where do my feelings come into play in this situation and why does this only happen online? It's not like if you were talking to someone face to face and suddenly got bored would it be acceptable to turn around and start walking away. No, it's rude, and your friend would probably be a very angry monkey and **** will start flyin' the next time you see them. I don't know how to explain to them calmly how irritated I feel when this happens.. because I'm usually irritated out of my mind when it's time to explain. When I'm mad I just want to stomp around, play the blame game, and rant and rave until that person is left feeling like dirt. Of course, if I wanted to lose my friends this would be the best way to go about explaining but I don't. So what am I supposed to do? |

well if they are on here they just got the message!
And maybe you just have to expect and accept that from them? If you are good friends, nobody is perfect. If not just message them and say ''hey you vanished, i hate it when you do that''. |

Nah, it's not anyone on here. The thing is I don't think I'm asking for too much. It bothers me a lot, and well as my friends shouldn't they also try to be a little more conscious? It just happens every single day, multiple times a day. I put up with it for the first couple times but after that it's just like, ugh. Perhaps it's just me, and I'm just in a picky, moody, easily annoyed mood this time round but I don't know. I always feel like I have to modify who I want to be or how I act so I can be considerate of other's feelings, but no one is very considerate of me.

hmmm. Well i dont know, ask them to be considerate, it seems you only have a few options.
*tackle it head on. * stop talking to them *accept it. What ever you decide i hope it helps you. |

LittleForgetMeNot ... you have hit the nail square on the head with this post and I thank you for it. Its infuriating to say the least! And rude! And hurtful etc. Seems to be be the way of the world lately. Then.... God forbide if you should ever be late in responding to someone elses IM . The way I handle it lately is by signing off for a couple hours to cool off.
