This is the neighbor I've posted about here previously. Last Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, I had some workers installing the fence, which she had stopped previous workers from doing by calling the town inspector, who came by and gave a "stop work" order saying we had to have license and pay the town fees. It was a simple job, and my choice was to pay these handymen $450, instead of the Home Depot installer $2400. Anyway, I had a mess of old rotten fence in my yard the entire week of Thanksgiving, my week off. So...this past Friday, when the licensed fellas were installing the fence, she came out there harrassing them. I went out there to see what she was doing and she began assaulting me with verbal threats! You would think any neighbor would have been happy to see a new nice fence replacing a rotten one, but, NO! She has also threatened my pets in the past. All my other neighbors and friends said I should call the police. I was reluctant, but I did...had a major anxiety attack afterward, and couldn't breathe. I don't think the police did anything, which would be consistent with the town police. For my own safety, I've installed "dummy" security cameras, and a big red sign facing her house that says "video camera recording 24 hours." I so regret buying this house. Over the time I have lived here, she has cost me at least $10,000!
Sorry for the rant.
Patty

(((seeker1950))) - sorry this happened. Did you get a license after the inspector came out? As long as you have a license and did the fence according to code, then she has no right complaining. I agree she should be happy the rotten fence is being replaced and that you're not asking her to pay for half of it like some neighbors do.

Thank you for the response, LynnP. Yes, I got a licensed installer, and we had the permit posted on my house.
On another note, I've allowed myself to be "victimized" by this neighbor.
I hope to recover soon and resume my peaceful existence. Will have to completely ignore her!
Thanks for this!

Here in Canada, all we have to do is get the permit but we can chose our own person or build it ourselves. Did it cost you more and did you get it at a better price than Home Depot's? Its tough when we have neighbor problems especially if they're next door.

It did cost me more, in the hundreds, not thousands, thankfully. Helpful neighbor tells me the bad neighbor is "really hot" right now. I'm thinking the video surveillance cameras may protect my pets, and also put a stop to her harming my property.
Thanks for this!
