Communication - I never knew how and still struggle with this. Im working through it with my therapist. Sometimes what "FEELS" comfortable I seem to always fall back on. I was always a very good manipulator and faked the feeling. Could always make you think Im okay......When inside I was dying....I still get caught up in that funk...Well theirs always time for improvement. Later

Neurontin, sounds like you confuse yourself a lot; acting one way, feeling another. I think a lot of us do this to some extent. When someone asks me how I feel, I say "fine". I don't want to go into what I'm feeling with everybody; so I do not trust them much to "really" have an interest. Just being polite. I'm speaking of acquaintances here, not close friends.
However in the basics with very close relationship and for yourself, the old saying "To Thine Ownself be True" , we must come to being true to ourselves, the good part, the bad parts (hopefully improving) and the really ugly parts (also improving) When we come to grips with these things, then we can improve them increments at a time, while respecting our self worth. Habits are hard to break and we hopefully can be "mindful" of mistaken attitudes and improve on them. This sounds like you are in that mindful part from your posting. A step in the right direction in my opinion. hugs, bj |

Quote:
![]() In everyday life, people have a variety of moods and feelings. These feelings include frustration, joy and anger. Usually these moods last one day rather than several days. For people with bipolar disorder, however, moods usually swing from weeks of feeling overly “high” and irritable to weeks of feeling sad and hopeless with normal periods in between. An important distinction between bipolar disorder and the normal emotions of life is that bipolar disorder results in an inability to handle daily activities. The person cannot work or communicate effectively and may have a distorted sense of reality (for example, unrealistically high or low opinion of one’s skills). Bipolar disorder often is not recognized by the patient, relatives, friends or even physicians. However, recognizing the mood states that occur is essential. Treatment can help a person with bipolar disorder avoid harmful consequences such as destruction of personal relationships, job loss and suicide.
