I'm home for Thanksgiving...staying from Thursday morning until Friday night (although mom wants me to stay until Saturday). Mom has this canny ability to -a) make me feel guilty and b) complain about anything and everything.

I'm not sure how to keep sane. Everything she complains about, I try and switch it to the positive and she says, no, no...it can't be that. For example, my Nana is deadline with dementia and my uncle is trying to help get her back into her favorite news show. Instead of seeing this as a good thing, and him wanting to help, my mom sees it has he has no idea how bad she is and he's going to make it worse.

I feel stuck when I am with her...it's like I get gripped by her negativity. Idk. Ay suggestions on how to get through the next few days, please let me know. Happy thanksgiving everyone

After stating your case and she contradicts you, just agree with her. "yeah, you're rIght!" It will kill that thread of conversation so you can move to another one.

Hum, that's a good point! I always thought that would encourage her

There's a joke about a professor teling his class that 2 negatives make a positive but two positives never make a negative and a kid answers , "yeah right." She might not like you disagreeIng with her.
