Hi.
One of the problems I've had is not being able to get into a relationship.Considering that since early 2000 I've had chronic fatigue syndrome (cfs) which is bad enough as I dont leave my home. So,I'm agoraphobic. On top of that its what the ocd had done to me since I got it in 2006.Doesnt really make me an ideal candidate for a loving relationship. My post in the ocd section will explain how ocd affects me,I'm the aussie guy) Okay,I'm single,51 years old.I'm functioning better as a result of my ongoing treatments not only for ocd,but cfs and my wellbeing too.I figured while I'm single I better start relearning how to date, how to meet women, etc so I bought books online from a reputable big company. There's a lot of books for us guys (and you women too).So I bought several.I read them from time to time. Its a refresher course for me.Sort of like cognitive behavioral therapy for singles.I enjoy reading those books. What to do about relationships? I havent met any woman locally.(I'm from South Australia,Australia).I'm in a lot of forums.I'm on facebook.I post in an Australian school reunion website/forum. I'm back to being my real self as the ocd is on its way out.I decided that ocd has got to go.I was determined not to keep it.I'm winning.Ocd is losing.I just stay positive that I'll meet someone oneday. You never know. There are men and women who meet under all circumstances even those of us with disorders. You're welcome to reply.I hope you will.If you have some genuine advice please do reply.I dont mind. Thanks. I'll sign off with the abbreviation of my usename,Den. |

Hi Den,
Welcome to PC! I can understand how getting into a relationship could be hard. It is fantastic that you are taking steps to manage your symptoms. I know that can't be easy ![]() As for relationships, the best advice I can give is to hang in there and give it time. As you said yourself, people meet under different circumstances and you can and will meet someone, some day. Also - akways nice to see another Aussie around! ![]() |

Den, you are able to use your first name here. Probably just not your full name for privacy reasons
![]() I'm hoping for some rain too! Had a little overnight but nowhere near enough to help the fires. The change is meant to hit today though so praying that things go well. Living in an area that often has fires it has been a very anxious few days with the extreme weather. Again, great to meet you. Hope you can find support on this forum. It is a great place with some amazing people. |
