I hate being made to feel like I am not as good as others!! My studid sil was on the phone bragging about some really expensive shampoo that my neice just has to have! I told her my shampoo was just as good as her expensive crap...she told me it would ruin my hair!! the nerve of her telling me that!! I don't have hair issues!!!! then she went on to Victoria Secrets about a huge sale on bras there!! I told her I can get a pushup at walmart alot cheaper errrrrrrrrrrr
My brother even made the comment on how soft my hair was and made her feel it awhile back!! errrrrrrrrr

LMAO!! Just think, Elaine! She's the one getting ripped off! Didn't she hear on the news a while back that if you're careful, you can get the same shampoo/conditioner A LOT less expensively than those "designer" ones???

Some people!! Don't pay any attention to her! Laugh at her, instead! LOL

oh she changed the subject when I told her she forgot where she came from. My poor brother is so whipped. He is working his full time job and side jobs just to pay the bills while she spends money like that!! I think she is just stupid!! lol

i normally use Pantene... i love the way it makes my hair feel and smell.. well the other day i was in the store and i saw this shampoo that my stylist uses on my hair, but it was the walmart price, well i thought that it was, not the salon price.. i get to the check out counter and the conditioner was 15.00!!!! i just about fainted. i thought oh well i will try it.... it sucks... it dried my hair out so bad that it is frizzy!!!! so i am going back to Pantene come pay day!!!!!!!

For some reason people feel the need to have a name make them feel more valuable when the truth is most of everything, name brand or not, is produced very cheaply in a foreign country. I know I don't give a crap about name, just whether it's worth the money or not.

Now when it comes to shampoo, as long as it's not that Suave, which makes my hair impossible to brush and the conditioner makes me shed like a dog, then any will do at any price. As long as the first ingredient ain't alcohol.

Unfortunalty, that's what makes peoples boat floats, and it gives them some sort of higher self standard. My husband was very much like that when I first met him, but I showed how ignorant it was, and now he's a generic fanatic like me....lol

I actually like suave. Both the conditioner and shampoo are only 89 cents and I have been using it for 10 years and not a split end, no wighted down from build up, not frizzy. Also I have found that fly away unmanageable hair in my case comes from static electricity effect in my hair. so I put a small amount of conditioner and water in a spray bottle. that way during the dryier months I can "spritz" condition my hair by lightly misting my hair before brushing. Works great and I have Butt length long curly hair.

bebop ((((((huggs))))) that's sad your sil is missing out on some good things in life, especially by errrring you

. . . some people are so brainwashed for name brands . . . they see your value as a person by the pricetag of your products you buy . . .

i admit, i'm stuck on a few name brands. it's because advertising is so effective, and i'm brainwashed i need something. i don't judge others by the certain brands i like.

my hubby is a generic freak for clothing but won't let me buy him generic coke errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr or other store brand foods.

Yes Bebop, I also know someone like that. Always bragging about things...I can't stand it! I use Pantene conditioner, but my favorite shampoo in the world is Prell! I don't like to spend a lot on things when you can get the same basic thing (without the fancy name) for a whole lot less. And yeah, Walmart does have a great lingerie department! I can pick up 3 or 4 bras for the price of one at Victoria's Secret, and they are just as pretty, and way more comfortable. Also they last just as long. Your sil is missing out on some great bargains! (We are the smart ones! errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)

Love,
Zen

Quality is so much more important.

That's why I buy gorgeous makeup and skincare, I may buy a cheaper lipgloss or body moisturiser or shower gel, but I do believe you need to spend some money to get products that work well.

Advertising spend here is well down, manufacturers realise people aren't so guillible anymore.

Yeah, you are right Drunksunflower, about some products being worth it. I do admit that my face lotion is probably the most expensive thing that I buy, and I like a certain lipstick by Loreal that stays on no matter what. Those investments are worth it for me. So in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with that, it's just the people who feel they have to rub it in your face as far as thinking they are better than you. I think that is what Bebop meant. errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I disagree on shampoos. I used the kinds you can buy in the department store most of my life, but I tried the salon brands, and I really do see great improvement. I have seen reports that when you get salon-brand shampoos in Wal-mart and grocery stores and such, you may not be getting what you pay for. It might be a weaker/older product, for instance. I don't know if that's true, but it could be. I'm always skeptical of such claims, because I know companies are trying to make money.

I used to have bad split ends, no matter what shampoo I used. After using Paul Mitchell for several months, I stopped having major problems with split ends, and my hair looks great. I thought it looked good before, but there is a real difference. You have to use it for several months, though, because it takes a while to build up your hair.
